Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Yeah,
I found a guy here in Al. who will sell the complete swap...front to rear for $1695 shipped with 38K miles on it. I don't really need it, but I guess "Bob" will have to end up with it :). Cheers, Ed |
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Lol, we keep crossing paths at the wrong time!
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
:ennyd:
Where did you end up finding one Bob? |
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
 party time!! right on man i'm happy for you. john, i believe he got it from a yard down the street from me.
so you got everything you wanted w/ the warranty and stuff? pretty cool guys huh? |
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Yep, it's from Rancho Recyclers/Specialized Parts Planet. Great guys to deal with, and I got all I wanted and more. Can't wait to get them now!
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
are you going to start the install before winter now?
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Nope, same schedule. I want to be able to drive it as long as I can before I tear it down. In the mean time I'll pull all the stuff off the engine and get it cleaned up real good and paint it, transmission too, get the harness reworked and the computer reprogrammed.
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
good idea and plan Bob. patience... is a hard one for me.
oh yea, did we get a 2 for 1 deal at parts planet? |
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
No twofer, but the price is the same! I've got patience...... after all, I spent almost 5 years on my 68 and still never made it to paint. :haha:
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Maybe I should have worded that "I spent almost 5 years tripping over my 68, and actually worked on it for probably 2 of those 5 years." :haha:

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Hey Bob....things are looking good on the Fred truck...
Would that alignment tool work on my trucks? If so, I might want to borrow it.... |

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
I'm not sure Larry, it seems to be more for a latch that uses a Nader pin. But when I bring the door jack back to you, I will bring it and you can give it a try. If it does work, it literally takes a few seconds to tweak it.
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Okey Dokey...that sounds like a plan....I'm pretty sure I can meet you halfway when you are ready to return the jack....maybe we can meet at Famous Daves for lunch sometime....I am in NO RUSH for the jack so keep it as long s you need it...if Powell72 or someone else needs it, they are welcome to use it too....

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
I'll check around and see if anyone is in need. And lunch at Famous Dave's, you're on brother!!!!

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
check this out for the speedo... http://www.abbott-tach.com/cablex.htm
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
:jdp: $310?? Eeks, but my Burb electric speedo was free!
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
sorry, didnt see the price! for the burb speedo is it possible to use the old style font?
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Hmmm, I didn't think about yours being a 78. The font will be the same for mine. You could probably pick up a complete burb cluster and repin the connector on your truck to make it work with the burb cluster so all the fonts match. The only hitch might be.... does yours have a volt and amp gauge?
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
volt gauge
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Do some of the companies that make overlays make one that you could put the old font on the newer gauge?
|
Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"
Ah, good question John!
Dennis, there is a thread on here somewhere that has a good discussion on which clusters will swap straight across, which will swap with moving a few pins on the harness, and which swaps to avoid. I'll see if I can find it. |
