Before final assembly, we noticed that one of the u-bolts was hitting the crossmember so the excess thread was cut off. You will need to check this

The complete kit will include the rack and pinion, the rack mount, all mounting hardware, tie rod adjusters, outter tie rod assemblies, steering shaft stablizer bearing and mount, 2 flaming river billet u-joints, and a section of steering shaft.

The list price will end up at @ 849.00 for the complete kit.

Rob,

you did not mention anything about driver side motor mount or requirement of notching the frame for tie rods. Can you confirm that the only modification required is the lip on the crossmember and the frame steering shaft hole/frame clearance.

A complete install pic would really be nice prior to us phoning for the discounted price.

Taking a second look I see that in the pic for making clearance on bottom frame leg for the rack that the rack boots will be well bellow frame.

Thanks, in the beginning it looked like a motor mount mod was in the cards. But, with a few changes to the rack mounting for input shaft position, and using a three U-joint steering system, this is no longer needed. No notching the frame for the tie rods. If you look at the bearing mount picts, we use the 'forward' hole on the top of the frame as a starting point for the pass through hole. There may be some motor mounts that interfere with this, but the stock V-8, and all of the aftermarket mounts use the back two. (I think the forward hole may have been for 6 cyl mouns. Any info?) We have done a lot of test fitting on all three series - 63-66, 67-72, 73-87, and only about 1/3 of the trucks need the little bit of rack clearance, ALL of the trucks need the clearance for the lower U-Joint.

While we will be taking pre-orders, progress on this instal will take a short break, (thurs,fri) as we have a install certification class going on. We will finish the install and test drive tuesday ad Adams Motorsports Park.

Yes, that pump is fine, you wil need to change the end of the pressure hose. Does the six cyl mount use the back two holes? (there are three on the top of the frame)

If your talking about the holes where the engine stands bolt to yes. My inline 6 bolts up to the 2 closest holes towards the fire wall.

The way I read it, if your mount is in the rear two holes, you're set. Mine is in the front two.

crap.....this means I'd have to relocate the motor/trans and shorten the d-shaft.

my mounts are in the front holes...which I thought was the proper sbc mounting location?

You and me both. I can't remember what position my towers were in before the LS1, but I've got a ground running to the rear hole on the driver's side that I think has been there for ages (i.e. long before the LS1).

Looks like I'm back to my plan of ditching the rag joint for a U-joint and getting a quick ratio steering box. Shame, this does look nice.

In looking at the kit seems as if it would be simple enough to modify the steering linkage to work with front mounting hole. The mounting and other components are the hard part with a little tweaking this should work fine.

We took a look at that, and it seams that if you moved the pass through hole back, to be centered between the front two holes, everything would work fine. This would require drilling through both the motor mount and the chassis.
