Re: 72 Suburban Build
I used to go to it every week before i joined the Navy. I had a 70 Camaro. As far as the Burb goes, it WILL be together. Not sure if I'm going to drive it across or not. We'll see. By the way, I love the white letters out on your truck.

Finished the notch cover and got one of the fenders tacked up. Looking forward to finally getting my master cylinder/booster setup tomorrow.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
sick build! i love digging through other suburban builds...real motivation!
whats your plans for the body? |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
Not going to do anything with the body anytime soon. I'm going to get everything I have done and then drive the hell out of it for a couple years. My timeframe (going to sea soon) and budget won't support doing much to the body.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
This build is really going quick, Amazed that you are able to work, and keep up the pace on the build, while planning a move to S.D.!
Notch came out great, looks just about the way the factory would have designed it. |

Unfortunately, I'm getting to the part the we ALL HATE...wiring. I need to wire the air system, ignition, fuel system, radiator fans, and I moved the battery to the back so you can throw that on the list. I want to make it look clean and hidden for the most part too. I'm a little intimidated by all of it right now. |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
Why is it that we pullout the sawzall and welder and don't even flinch. But some color coded wires freaks me out!! Lol.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Well not only was Scott's Hotrods 3.5 weeks late on getting me my stuff but when it finally got here they didn't even send all of the stuff I ordered. I had planned on having the brakes finished by the end of the weekend. So much for that. This makes 4 for 4 in companies not sending what I paid for. Never mind, Summit is the only place that has sent me what I ordered every time and on time.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
could you go ahead and send me some fender money ???? LOL

Re: 72 Suburban Build
I can so relate, we are in a "depressed" economy and yet you cannot purchase a product in a timely manner, nor get an honest/accurate time frame for delivery of goods PAID FOR in advance! Drives me crazy, I own my own business, and deal with this type of bs on a weekly basis....sure makes me appreciate the fine Customer Service that is out there.,...albeit to far and in between.
Vent on man, and you know the only way to impact business that do not follow through with their product or ship dates?!...cancel orders and do business elsewhere! On a completely different rant....your 'Burb is gorgeous....exactly what I want to do suspension wise to mine!! |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
yes that bites !! the same run around i am getting from the people building my Tubz..!! i hope it come to an end pretty quick !!
|
Re: 72 Suburban Build
The other thing that gets me is when they f-up and don't send me something that I paid for, they just ship it regular UPS ground. If I had a business, was way late on shipping something and left something out, you can bet your A$$ that I'd be sending that stuff next day air.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Also, thanks for the compliments everyone. I really appreciate. It makes the long hours worth it.

Rear fenders are done. Now I need to make some frame for doors so there is access to the gas tank and battery/compressor.

Well I made the access panels today. Just trying to decide what I'm going to do to attach them.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
have you started the under dash mount pedal kit yet? I am wondering how it fits and what fab is required to get it in there. I purchased the CPP chrome sealed unit.... have not installed it but would like to clean up the fire wall when I finally get in there. Are you going to install the remote resiv for the master cyl?
Seems like we all have had issues with several companies, from forgetting to ship out the orders, to sending them incomplete, or making you wait stupid amounts of time.. waiting for the brown truck to pull up.... waiting... waiting.... waiting..... oh wait is that him?...... nope its the next door neighbors viagra shipment... oh well Ill keep waiting. |

Secure those panels with dzus fasteners.
Then carpet right over them. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Self-E...ign=GoogleBase |

Well today was all about trying to make it a little cooler while working on the Burb. I bought a 36" 12,000cfm fan for the garage and moved the Burb into the garage. Its getting too hot to work on it outside in the sun. My Touareg has lost garage privileges for a few weeks.
