Kind of a big update. I got the motor installed today for the last time. I put the new flywheel on and the motor just about fell in to place. Took under 30 min to put it in my self. I got the water pump in and then attempted to find my o2 sensors and could not. I know I put them someplace but I am not finding them anywhere. I also am not sure where to run the steam line off the head. I was going to tap the water pump but with the pump and intake I have I cant find a clean looking place to put it. On my burb I ran it to the rad tank. The small rad I have in this truck does not have the port for a heater hose. I am kind of stuck on them two issues. I will pick up my upper hose today and manifold flange gasket.

Made some good progress today. Installed the intake, harness most of the way, passenger side manifold is in, ecm is mostly in, heater hose are cut and test fitted, brake booster line and pcv lines are done. Not a hole lot left to do. Just need a few more things and it will be time to fire up.

Got more done today. Removed driver side collector cause it is hitting the frame. I need to have it cut and repositioned. Installed the batt cables and ran the ECM power wire. Cranked the motor over a few sec to test the starter. All I need to do is get o2 sensors and wire up the fuel pump and flush the lines. Will post pics later.

Got it started today. Ran under a min. No cooling system yet. My oil psi gauge is not working in my dash. I disconnected the sender from the harness and put my volt meter on it and off it read .8 ohms and on it was like 55-60 ohms. So it has pressure. I also seen oil coming out the push rod when I took the oil cap off of it so it has to be my gauge. I grounded the wire out and the gauge did nothing. It should peg out unplugged or grounded correct?

Got more done. Got the cooling system all set up. Got the power steering hoses and fluid in after taking the bracket on and off about 45 times. All I have left is finalize the wiring and I am sure there is more.

I am almost done. I secured the fuel lines and fuel pump power wires. Got the break line secured after removing the factory fuel lines. I have all the wires secured and ran except the fan and one o2 sensor cause the collector needs modified to not hit the frame. Also need the speedo wires hooked up or removed. I have not decided what I am going to do with that. Ran the motor and I don't have any coolant leaks or power steering leaks. I did have a bit of trouble getting it to burp all the air out. It tried to over heat for a little then it finally started pushing water threw the top hose. But it is working good now. I don't have a fan on yet so could not run it too long. I am pretty happy with how it runs so far. It did not die when I blip the throttle like my burb did. Cant wait to drive this thing.

Got to drive it a few times today. Having a bit of a fuel filter clogging issue but pretty much got it fixed now. I guess I did not get the fuel lines cleaned out as good at they needed to be. But over all it runs quite amazing. The video was not full throttle. With no bed it is extremely hard to get traction under any hard acceleration but if I punch it in 3rd it pulls hard. I am amazed with the power of this 5.3. anyways here is a short video.

That video barely sounded like you got to 4k, sounds like the boost didn't hardly have time to kick in! It sounds good but I can imagine that once you actually start to draw some air it sounds entirely different.

Get her out on a nice long street, I want to hear this thing under some load where we've got noticeable boost. The little 5.3's SCREAM under boost, like a pissed off snake. It's gonna be sweet.

That will teach me to jump from my last post to your last post without reading a bunch of stuff in between haha. No wonder I can't hear it!

It still sounds good though, and now that I've actually gone back and looked at everything, its pretty clean too. Hopefully you'll get back at the turbo tho when the time is right, gotta execute the original plan!

It will get some kind of forced induction when money comes to me. Had to get truck going. Will need a trans before too long. Then a bigger rear end.

Re: 85 lwb turbo 5.3 build

It has been a while. Still slowly getting parts. Ordered a better fuel filter due to crap being in the lines and tank. It was plugging the old one fast. Got most of the junk out and put a much larger filter with a better element in it. Also my bed bolts came in. Now to figure out what I want to do about putting a hole in the floor that I can fill the tank up with and have covered. Running out of ideas.

I got the massive fuel filter installed and the bed installed. Also chose to put a billet fuel filler cover that would go over the jeep factory area. will take a few pics tomorrow.

The truck took a 25 min drive to the muffler shop tonight. Hope they finish it tomorrow. Cant wait to be able to drive this thing. It has been a long time.

Since this is going to be a daily driver if I were you I would either make a pan for the fuel cell or make a container it can sit in to protect it all the way around. Those cell's aren't really made for the application you have.
