[QUOTE=disasterbus;7389472]A nice surprise in the post this morning was a package from Rian (Grizz) containing a sticker he picked up on his recent road trip and a cool tee shirt which was a present for me from Clem. Another example of how cool the people are that share our interest in all things automotive when someone like Clem takes the time and trouble to send something to someone they've never met. Thanks Clem (and of course, thanks Grizz for taking care of the shipping!) you are totally welcome and that Grizz… well, he's is one of a kind. |

thanks guys… really appreciate the well wishes.
Retirement... it can't be that bad if I work hard at it and hire the right guys, then the truck shop thing should do alright. at least i can be doing what i really enjoy doing. and with the partner in Pete Hoffman things seem to be falling into place. 2 weeks ago a very nice country lady pulled in with a project. her truck named Maude, needed a complete face lift and mechanical overhaul. I do the face lift part and Pete does the mechanicals. Maude is a farm truck that was in very sad shape…once a work truck in Oklahoma is has rust to the Nth degree, a myriad of bozo mechanicals before us and some general poor taste from previous owners. Basically a complete redo on a tight budget. Well the lady was cool and she loves Maude, soooooo, its OK, we're weak for folks that love their truck… pics of Maude. After we removed the clip (sorry no pics) the real neglect became evident. |
Re: tuba trucks
Maude came to the right place.
A little floor work, column change, door repair, tailgate fixin' and she'll be good as new. Wish I could be there to jump right in with ya |
Re: tuba trucks
Good to see that the truck has come to the right place Pete, Clem.
Of course we will be watching this build unfold as well. |

So… yesterday we rolled Cottons 63 out for a photo update. We installed bed boards, rear fenders, step boards, back bumper and Pete dialed in the drivetrain. Now its off to EQ muffler for the exhaust… getting close on this one. |
Re: tuba trucks

Michael from the UK wanted the patina truck after he saw it at the cruise-in last year. since then a lot of mechanical upgrades were made and the interior has been redone. which brings us to the paint job. the truck had all the usual rust spots and a bunch of the typical dents and scratches. all fixed... and once the body was solid and straight we agreed on a faux-tina paint job. the work is about half done, starting with a thick coat of grey primer that was sanded down then another coat of black primer and finally a coat of red oxide. after a scuffing, 2 coats of baby blue were done with a flattening agent added. then the fun begins... pics...

the finished result is still a bunch of work before it is realized. sanding and airbrushing to get a very weathered look to match the white top that i hope to leave alone. we'll see... when completely satisfied a bunch of matte clear will seal the deal. just not yet...

Re: tuba trucks
It's looking good .

Re: tuba trucks
See all of that blue powder on the ground, sweep it up for me and save it.... I will sprinkle it on my truck!
Such a same to see nice fresh paint just get sanded off.... =-( |
