Started to reassemble the truck this week. The bed, tailgate and hood are drying in the paint booth. Hopefully we will have a complete body together by next weekend!

I took my wife to go see my truck Thursday . (You can see her in the background) They got a little further this week on the assembly. The front end is almost together. Body lines are perfect and the doors open and closes smooth. The front and rear glass is going in next week and i also I hope I can get the bed assembled and put on the truck.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
I was stationed in Bavaria for six years and loved it. The TUV is pretty hard on inspections and i thought it would be real tough on older trucks. My 84 BMW was taught to get thru them for inspection. Especially the brakes.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Installed the bed and have one more bored to install in the floor. I have to cut out the filler hole and I did't bring my hole saw yesterday. I think my wife picked out the correct stain to match the color!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Finally got the truck back home yesterday. Fort Hood Paint and body did an outstanding job making my vision come true on the paint. Yesterday was the first time I saw it in the sun light. It really looks good. The bed color and chrome really goes with the Brigade Blue. I started by putting the windows in and for some reason it was the hardest time yet. I guess I didn't want ti scratch it. Which I did on the window seam. All installed the sun visors, firewall pad, wiring harness and some hoses. The plan tomorrow is plum the the rear tank and maybe try to start it.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
I thought I had everything in time but I didn't. Once I got it up to operating temp it started to backfire and it wouldn't idle. So I re checked the timing and found out I was about three teeth off. Once I re-clocked the distributer by readjusting the vacuum advance and re stating the distributer it ran perfect. Now I have full power! If these 235s are off one tooth they cause a bunch of problems. I also filled up the overdrive trans and tested it. I have all gears. At least it moves. Today I need to secure the fuel line and run the sending unit with to the cab since I am getting fuel to the engine. I still have to straighten up the wires under the dash. I Just have them running to the fuse box. The front grill and instrument bracket is on its way to be chromed!

Great looking 62.
You have gone way over the top with your latest edition of this truck and should get some first place wins. |

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Moved a little further this week. I got the booster assembly, seat and carpet and the front grill off to the chromer. I can't wait to get it back and back on the truck. From the pics the grill looks great!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Beautiful truck!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
I finally received my grill from the chrome shop last week. This morning I installed it and figured out I have one light out. I also installed the 2in rear drop and front disc brakes. Tomorrow I will bleed it and see how the power brakes feel.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Why amber hood lights? My factory ones were clear. Are the lights off when headlights are on? Canadian law?
Looking good. |

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
That is a nice 62! Would love to see it in person. Well I pulled the trigger on a rebuilt T5 from Lugnutz65. He has done an amazing job just waiting on it to be shipped. After reading all the good reviews on this trans I thought it would be better tan my 3 speed OD. Plus the OD was working correctly. I also got in a new shifter, boot and ball from Speedway this week to keep that vintage feel. I can't wait to get it in!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Good decision John, I'm sure you'll love how smooth the t5's are. Not to mention better gas mileage :metal:
|
Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
I'm ready to get it in. My truck has been down since last April.
|
Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Just a little update. After some hard work trying to figure out how to get the T5 in it finally happened. It's in! Last Saturday I want on a test drive to test it out. The trans works great! Shifts good, performs better than I expected! I must have sucked up some trash in my carbs because I had a major stall and had to limp it to the body shop. After a week of setting AC (fabricator at the Body shop) help me clear out the trash and get it going. Now after a big tune up, carb adjustment and linkage reset I'm running better than before. i still have to install the high hump, new carpet and shifter boot and the trans install will be done!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pslrrk6nfc.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pszexqdsgm.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psvyrgj3un.jpg I had to remove the torsion bar x member to get the trans in. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pskyamlbcv.jpg Not a good 360 pic but you can see that there is plenty of room now. Except I have to cut in between the top front tunnel cover bolts. This will allow the top of the trans to clear. If you have a high hump this cutting isn't required. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psn8bfuvgr.jpg Trans installed! As you can see the lower part of the T5 is what was hitting the torsion bar x member. It wouldn't allow it to slide all the way back into the x frame. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pswlu8dmuc.jpg Transcend shifter installed! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps3b1vzh9u.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psqykw3uzw.jpg Here is a shot when I went to pick up my truck. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps9gvycvpx.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psgntndbwc.jpg |
Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
It was such an nice day Saturday I put on some trim rings and detailed under the hood. I am still having problems with the turn signals and parking lights and found out the turn signal switch is bad. None in stock so I broke down and orders a steering column and new steering wheel. Will post pics of the install.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.
Truck looks awesome. Question about your disc brake conversion. Who made it? And, do you have any issues with fitment or clearance with your wheels?
