This morning I converted the dash top clock to quartz. I would have liked to leave it mechanical but it didn't work anymore and quartz lasts so much longer. very easy to do with the kit.

I repainted the body and replaced all the old stiff wires with new stuff. Polished out the lens and chrome ring best I could. should look sweet all put back together. Still not 100% sure I am going to use this but if I don't, now that it works correctly and in nicely refinished, I probably wouldn't have a hard time finding someone who could use it in their 66 truck.

the smaller clock I had I sold here cause I did not like how it looked on top of the dash. I go this 67 chevy clock and decided it needed to be incorporated into the pad. it will have to be worked with foam and new vinyl but here is what it looks like in the pad. I just had to find a way to get a clock in this truck without it looking unoriginal and tasteful at the same time.

Today I finally finished up my power vent windows so my next problem was my power windows. I had already wired my 67 with a harness that used standard motors and stock style 3 way switch. I bought the kit from A1 electric (and its awesome) but it uses reverse polarity motors. I was stuck on this as I did not want to run relays and such as I am trying to keep it looking period correct and keeping the stock metal switches was a must. a Kit from Watson street works. http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/i...DF/L07W-25.pdf. it lets you use a 3 way switch and reverse polarity motors. Now my window woes are over!

today I put the pad on the truck with the clock to see what it would look like. The pad will be the red color of the other pad when complete if I decide to go ahead with it.

Here it is with the red pad. I am not sure what color for the clock yet. Im worried if I paint the housing red the black center of the clock will stick out too much buy itself rather than the clock as a whole. I am going to get this photo shopped before I do any paint. well see.

What is a twilight sentintal?

chewychevy67 08-24-2015 09:28 PM

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

It turns your headlights on when it's dark automatically. It also allows you to have your lights stay on for a short time after you shut off the vehicle for convenience.

I got my sentinel switch finished up today. the dial sits behind the headlight switch in place of the factory bezel. when you move it, it tells the relay how long to keep the lights on between one minute and 10 seconds. This is one of my favorite upgrades because you can barely tell its there. headlight switch still looks stock pretty much.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I gotta get me one of those twilight sentinels that's awesome, I also gotta get me a variable delay wiper switch which is equally as useful.

Great build, I have been through all the posts a couple of times now. I especially like the idea of using the transistorized ignition to retain the factory distributor look. I had one on a 72 LT-1 and never had a problem with it.

Several years ago the GM dealer that my brother worked at was throwing away a blue box test kit that had a logo on it for transistorized ignitions. I guess they hadn't used it for several years. Because of the LT-1, my brother grabbed it, which turned out to be the GM test kit for the ignitions. Luckily I held onto it for all these years as I might "borrow" your idea and install one on mine.

No too many people comment on the TI. Many probably don't know what it is. I could have gotten a pertronix kit but I thought this would be a nice touch. Thanks. I hope I don't have too much trouble getting it going once my engine is assembled.. I had a guy build this properly for my 327 engine. It sure wasn't cheap to have done but is cool to have.

here is where my window switches will be. the top one is vertical for the vent window and the bottom is horizontal for the door window. I wanted to put the bottom one where I have the marker but I could not because of motor location.

Xeen 09-26-2015 08:08 AM

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Standard practice in the auto industry is to group all the switches together, not to suggest that you should follow the industry, but why not put them right next to each other?

chewychevy67 09-26-2015 09:49 AM

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

because the door window motor and vent motor are right beside the top switch in the door and the bottom has the window track right close and with the double switches on the driver side I would be tight if I could at all put them close together. these were literally my only options. these doors have no depth at all and the motors sit tight in there.
