Re: LT1 GenV swap
Nicely done!

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Changed the exhaust already.. the dual 2.5" in single 3" out super 44 to a 3" dynomax bullet as a resonator (had anyway) over axle side dumped was a good sound but a bit too loud at wot for me. If it had cats, may be different story... had a summit racing 3" in/out 2 chamber laying around and replaced the after super 44 piping with it and money! Idle is quiet, regular driving sounds like a normal sounding flowmaster, hollow slightly deep, initial thoughts, sounds like a dragon breathing especially between shifts (trans is tuned, engine stock). Wot sounds very niice...
No drone on the freeway speeds too.. very pleased. I plan on bringing it to the shop next weekend to pull the tank for a quick mod and I'll take a few shots of the exhaust. |
Re: LT1 GenV swap
Charged the a/c with 2.5lbs and I think im gonna start selling snow cones out of this thing :)
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/635/RBzXoc.jpg Pressures are inside the shop but man, couldnt get any better. Stock l83 compressor, havnt gotten the a/c bus module squares away so it's just gonna be manually activated for the time being. Clint |
Re: LT1 GenV swap
so you used the stock compressor, did you use the original ac box and all? I looked back and didn't see but what did you use for fittings on the AC compressor? I will need a block or something.
Thanks Dave |
Re: LT1 GenV swap
Stock stuff needs to be modified. I drew up some adapters, had em 3d printed and was spot on.. goal was to have a shop make a run of em but not enough interest to invest in.
Low side tube was completely removed and reworked from compressor pad with some scrap bends. High side was tweaked and twisted and then a tube bit brazed on after the stock sensor. Clint |

All the tube was scraps in the pictures from old evaporator cores that were machine bent for tight radius.. there is a cool tool to bend ac tube bit not about to invest a grand to bend my ac lines like factory. https://imageshack.us/a/img923/8923/bi0ZXU.jpg Shows stock discharge line that requires the "twist" so the sensor isn't so close to the frame https://imageshack.us/a/img921/4324/3r8ujX.jpg Shows the 90* scrap bend and tube nut brazed together and taped up. Re: LT1 GenV swap
Thank you Clint. I was afraid you had to make something. I'll keep investigating. I was wondering if an aftermarket compressor will fit in place of the factory one?
Thanks Dave |
Re: LT1 GenV swap
That pcv setup look pretty badass man! Definitely like the way you routed the wiring to battery and battery location bud. I have an L83 swapped 68 GMC.

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Been driving the truck around, probably put over a hundred fun miles on it. Still tweaking the mass airflow table. Other than that added a power steering cooler. Fluid was pretty hot and already discolored. Also vented the p/s cap aswell so it wouldn't build and pressure.

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Tried out e85 in the l83 swap.. man, definatly got some more pep to its step! Definatly worth the extra maybe 100$ to plumb it in. Squeaks the tires up to about 40mph on concrete on full throttle. Still want to get a performance tune, still rocking stock ecu flash.

Clint If anyone needs an e85 sensor connector and ecu terminals to build your own e85 setup, I have one or 2 extra connectors AMD plenty of terminals and seals leftover. Clint |
Re: LT1 GenV swap
Just read through this entire thread (after work yesterday/today). Very impressive stuff!

Thanks
Almost done with the last retrofit for a while.. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/1090/NrvTmB.jpg One more "pod" to go Clint |
Re: LT1 GenV swap
made another batch of these adapters, have 2 left
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9176/UTjnav.jpg Includes plate, bulkhead connector, 2 screws to hold down bulkhead connector, all mating electrical connectors, terminals and seals for plus one extra of each terminal in case of mis-crimp. metri-pack 150 terminals max out at 14a, the 280 goes up to 30a - which is the purpose of doing these. So just offering the remaining up. http://imageshack.com/a/img924/8529/0SE8cn.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img922/350/ep5Ur4.jpg would be the end result. works great for using the flexible correlated fuel line in e-85 situations where you cant / shouldn't run rubber line 80$ plus shipping an another note, finally got around to installing the Jeep Wrangler, not the Cherokee steering shaft One page said they are the same but longer. Whats strange is they are cheaper by about 40$. Decided to give it a try. picked one up on ebay. The shaft is about 2x as long as stock. Used a cut off wheel to cut off the peened edge so the shaft can separate. and it was that easy to separate. There is a machined flat spot on one of the flat spot on the shaft towards the end and a flat spring and spacer to take up any slack? I didn't reuse it, but plan to. I'll get a picture of that tomorrow tapped it onto the steering gear box, about as much force as it took to get the old one off lol. On the column, the forums say you need to grind in a notch to allow the bolt to pass through. mine didnt, it also fit right on, tightened up and fits like it should. now it can vibrate off possibly, so I will be drilling a hole (similar to the stock shaft) and either tapping the hole and use 2 button head screws or just run a bolt and nut through it like stock. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/154/oNAHi7.jpg overall, it fits great, updated look, no slop in this unit, not sure if the stock shaft was wore out, but it was original and inexpensive. Just sharing clint |
Re: LT1 GenV swap
Stock looking pedal for the L83 swap I'm working on for a customer. Not a bolt in stock swap, but no welding, just 2 adapter brackets.

Re: LT1 GenV swap
I'm digging up my own thread lol... Ive been working on several projects and havn't really finished any of them.... the c-10 pulse wiper delay module is pretty much done except a nice case.
I started messing with the canbus... originally I planned on using adapters to connect a sending unit but I didnt like the options out there and plus everything is on the can bus anyway.. plus plus I didn't want to fork out 1000+ on gauges that wont tell me anything else other than how much I spent on them... but its turn key.. fast forward many many .. many hours first it started out as ordering the stepper motor. then trying to get it to read a potentometer then trying to get it to read a sensor... harder... side tracked into can bus and many many more hours later combined the 2 programs: videos are hosted on my site success!!! video shows throttle pedal controlling the stepper motor!!! http://www.87chevy.com/video/canbus/can_tps_gauge.mp4 link to the gauge project/progress: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=848692 link to the wiper module project: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=841963 clint |
