Same concept Alan, you lay a sheet over the wet paint and wiggle your fingers around and remove. Bake then clear.
* Bed is coming along great! |
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I can actually understand all the jargon you're using now..lol
The bed looks to be in decent shape considering. How did you shrink the stretched areas? |

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
have you tried to use that shrinking disk?
|
Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I talked to Ron Covell at the Fathers Day LA Roadster Show about shrinking. He said he doesn't even quench it. He lets it cool natural. I haven't tried it yet. Ron is one of the best metal guys around. He's the one that has all the videos, and class rooms seminars.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

I was wondering how close the Brothers wheel wells looked to the factory pieces. From the pictures you posted close enough for me. Let us know if you have any fitment issues.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
Hey Joe, I weighed the wheel wells and the new ones are 1-2lbs heavier.
I went back to work today and they didn't really have much to do except a brken door glass on an expedition. That pays well. LOL So I came home to get something done on Ronnies. I was rushed on the RT bedside. We'll see how it turns out. Getting a good foundation is key it makes blocking a lot easier. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00606.jpg Here is the LT B/S http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00607.jpg Sprayed 2 coats of slick sand on everything and put another coat on the RT just in case. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00612.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00613.jpg Guide coat http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00620.jpg Started sanding on the T/G to see what's going on there. The letter area had some dents and bows to it. That's what I concentrated on today. Ran a flat block across the letters and it shows some of the damage. Did the same thing on the rest of the flat surfaces to show the lows. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00615.jpg The inside of the T/G http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00616.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00618.jpg Still have to shave the T/G chain attachement and weld up the holes. Call the paint store today and they have a metal prep for galvanized metal. It's $10/bottle concentrate. |
