I did a little more on my truck yesterday. I'm making the pedal assembly attach to under the dash and be strong. I have to fab some brackets. I'm almost done with it. I also cut out the speaker grill, and will fill it later. I'll post some pictures soon.

By the way, the trunk floor in the Challenger come out real nice. I never did get that lowering job from that Tahoe.:waah: But have a Corvette coming in soon for some work.

You going to lower your truck? I was reading some thread and you seem to know a lot about it. I was just wondering why everyone raises the bed of there truck to hide the compressor. Can't they hide it under the truck somewhere? Had to go check out the posters again could'nt help it.

Dave they raise the bed to clear the big notch on the frame & the differential. Only if they don't want to cut the bed up. I used to put wheel tubs, and a raised piece in the middle. But you have to cut the bed up. The compressor can go any ware. But the tanks are limited on what room you have under the bed, cab, or in the bed.
Here's some I did on newer trucks. The same can be done on the older trucks too.

This is what it would look like if you didn't cover it.

When done you can Line-X the bed. It really finishes it off.

http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/9301891_jCKjE-M.jpg

I did a lot of set ups like this one. I did as many as 4 compressors, and 4, 3 gallon air tanks.
http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/9301872_ec8k8-M.jpg

Here's one I did with 3, 3 gal tanks, and 2 compressors

http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/9298589_veoyi-M.jpg

Here's one with 2 5 gal tanks, and 3 Big Viar Compressors.

http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/9055448_vyxvy-M.jpg

And to answer your question. Hell yeah I'm going to bag it. I don't know if I want it to lay frame, but it will be really low.

Like my old 56 Belair. This is without notching the frame.

I scored a 65 grill today for 27.00 from Pick A Part.
http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/554988237_fSq94-M.jpg

Now I have to sell that GMC grill, and those head light buckets I restored. Any takers for the buckets? $60.00 plus shipping and they can be yours. I also have the mounts that attaches them to the grill support.
Make me an offer if your interested in the chrome GMC grill. It has some small dents in it but looks good for a driver.

Thanks Joe. I really miss her after bringing her back to life, and owning it for 23 years. Had to sell it to finish my shop. All in all I think it was worth it. I'll make this 65 Truck even better than the Belair.

You are the Man. The more I think about it the more I want to bag it and drag it. When I first bought my truck I did'nt really care for the lowered look now I love it. I talked myself into buying a bolt on notch kit but now I'm thinking I want what's in your pictures. You have to make the notch thing right. I was hoping I could just buy one. I don't think my welding skills are good enough to build that. How do you know what size to make it? :thud:

ya you want to drag it to huh. It's not to late well maybe it is. That older truck would be the one to drag.

It depends on the size of your wheels. You have to do a lot of measuring if your doing a custom notch. You have to consider ride height, and slammed on the ground. I'm going to use a monster notch for a 73 frame.
This is like the one I'll use, but your frame is different.

I can get one like this when your ready, and anything else you need. This is the one you will need.

Do you have a GMC? I found out the GMC grill does not work with a Chevy grill support. That's why I changed to a Chevy grill.

I have a 64 Chevy C10. How much did not work? Was it fitment? mounting? could something be fabed up relatively easy? Sorry for the questions.

what was the fitment issue? we had a gmc grill on our '66 Chevy, pulled it off and bolted a chrome 4-5-6 Chevy grill in the same holes, no mods needed.....

First off the whole grill stuck out too far with a big space behind it. It looked like crap. I don't know what year GMC it was from, but to make it look better it would take too much fabricating. I looked at a GMC grill support, and it was different from my 65 Chevy support. I rather put my efforts else ware. And there's plenty of them ahead for me.

I haven't had much time for my truck, but made some nice progress on the 65 Studebaker Lark. I promise to get more work on mine soon. That's funny I feel guilty because I'm not getting much done because of you guys. Keep up the good work.

The frame is painted with POR-15 and with a BRUSH. It dries really slow, and it looks like powder coating. Beware though. Dirt will settle in it because it drys so slow. I wish I had a paint booth.
It still looks great :metal:

http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/574569226_ijxfx-XL.jpg

I only cleaned and painted to the X Member. That's what the customer wanted. He will have his guys do the rest (He owne's a Body Shop) It took me 3 days to get the frame down to bare metal & prep it before I painted it.

Nice looking truck Dennis! I noticed the wiper motor mounted on the firewall, is that stock? If not could you elaborate a little on how you went about doing that? I have been wanting to upgrade mine in my 64. Thanks!
