thats the thing, the lense looks clean. I think paint or dirt got INSIDE of it...and I tried to take it apart to clean once to no avail. It'll get the DSLR treatment once assembly is done and its all cleaned up, but I'd really like to have my camera work normally.

I am getting ready to spry mine with Hot rod flatz. How do you take care of flat paint? I have never had it before. Yours came out good.

hot rod flatz paint itself will have different care, as the only flat thing on my paintjob is the clear.
I don't know if HRF has a clear available, if so the care may be similar. You can't buff, polish or color sand it, as the texture is only really on the top layer of the paint. Wash it with wax-free soap and a good soft towel. There are some high-end washes and care products for high-end cars (bmw ice paint, audi flat) but all you really need is some Dawn. You CAN wax it, but it wil create a "sheen" that might look weird on black, but looks ok on colors. Once the wax dulls tho, you have to wash with wax removing soap, then RE-wax if you want. Its generally not recommended to layer wax on a flat car. The tendency is also to buff with wax, which will hurt the coating. |

Had random stuff to do today, as yet again I came just a few connectors/screws/bolts short of getting more done.
I did do some misc work tho. I wanted to make a custom horn button for my grant wheel. I've already designed it in photoshop, but my only option is to print it or make it like a sticker. Instead I wanted a "thick" button, with the epoxy top much like the vintage horn buttons of years past. The Grant button is 1.55", and I had a little candle holder in the basement that came suuuper close. Stirred up some craft epoxy (high gloss, doesn't dry opaque) and poured it in with a little release agent rubbed on the sides. Hopefully, I'll be able to pull (or more likely break the glass) around it, remove my new bubble top, and buff it clean. This stuff is fun, and was the perfect solution to help finish bring together my new tailgate hardware. I dipped the ends in it (2 coats, ended up being thicker than I expected), then let them dry out. These will be re assembled and prevent vibration and scratching. Scuffed up my front bumper to remove a little oxidation from sitting after getting blasted, then started in with the sealer and black topcoat.

The new door panels and lower panels deaden the sounds MUCH better, and the new carpet etc helps keep it all from rattling around. Considering it was hu power only, windows down, no windshield in and door 6x9's only, I was massively impressed with the sound. Once the console and 6.5 components are in place with the amp, I will have tunes loud enough to hear clearly over my rediculous exhaust note. |

Put the front bumper back on, and she's assembled fully sans the windscreen. Took a bunch of misc pics with her cleaned up a bit more.

This is only a 1-pic update as its a holiday weekend, and I've just been driving her around a little.
I had the wiper arms that I painted a while back with everything else, and finally got some new blades so I could re-install them. This is the final piece of exterior time (sans the wheels at powdercoaters) that could be re-installed, officially having the truck "together". http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...y/IMAG0158.jpg I also had to cut and re-weld the arm on my Kilduff shifter, since Mr. Kilduff doesn't seem to know how to properly use a tape measure. Hooked my shifter up, and bolted it down. I really like the 'gate' that it has. My old shifter worked fine, but this is more positive as it more or less locks into each position, and has a spring feel to the handle. I also opted for the reverse lockout so I don't do anything stupid by accident.

Did most of the cutting and test fitting of my Synthetic decking for the bed. This is just test fit over the plywood. I still need to pull the plywood out, drill and secure these, and cut the little filler pieces for the edges.

My bed is going to be multi-piece, so I can access the under bed fuel cell. I was working on the rear main portion today. I had to take a bed support, cut it down , and weld it and a square tube spacer to the crossmember, so the "wood" sits even in the bed. Because of its thickness and difference in width, it lines up a lot differently than normal.

You're welcome to make any improvements to my truck that you'd like. Just send me a powerpoint on what you'd like to change, and funding for the parts to my paypal account. Please allow 15-30 days for changes to occur, no refunds, if multiple ideas are submitted for the same thing I reserve the right to pick. That is fuel injection rated braided fuel hose, the kind of stuff you would normally fix an AN fitting to. While a 90* AN fitting and shortening the hose up would be prettier and more "correct", the setup is not really a hazard.
The fitting itself is an AN to hose barb fitting, as for why its brass, thats what came in the box when I ordered it. The line is a RETURN line, and that is a fuel injection rated clamp holding it in place. I understand your concern since its on a fuel system, but its all FI rated stuff, proper connections and correct clamps etc, on the lower pressure side of a return fuel system. |

Random Pro-Tip; If you ever get crap all of the splatter shield on your welding helmet, its kind of annoying. Between burn marks, gunk from cars falling on you, weld spatter etc, it can block a lot of vision. Although you CAN buy new shields, the shield itself wasn't really damaged, just gunked up. Great tip on the welding helmet! I hate that crap with the shields. I just bought one when I was 90 percent done with the boxing of the frame and it already looks terrible and your welds certainly do suffer when you can't see I found out. Interesting concept with the bed floor, I like it.

I used some sheetmetal connections, I *think* they are called cletes. Its just a 5 ft long flat folded peice of metal. It has 2 metal folds on the back creating a channel. When combined with some flat headed screws, it creates a "slip on" blind trim. No hardware visible. I have a few test fit here to show proof of concept. I will be doing the others, and they will all get ppainted black or body color, after the rest all gets rhino lined.
