Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Good example of a heavy lighter duty truck, although I would like to know what the GVW actually is.
If the Directional Lights are original, the truck is probably a '70. |
Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Neat trucks! If the dust cap on the front hubs is flat, the axle is either a 5,000 or 7,000lb. If the cap sticks out to clear the larger spindle, the axle is a 9,000lb. or greater. The '69 GMC manual I have shows several different ones, up to 16,000lb. capacity. I'll bet that blue truck had the rear axle added later on. There were two 1971 C60's at the junkyard a few years ago that had tag axles and springs added to them. I remember the glovebox door on one still had the sticker and it had a 7,000lb front axle, both had Budd wheels though.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Interesting truck.
They are calling it a "10-Speed", and technically it is, but it looks like a 5-Speed with an Electric 2-Speed Rear. |

1958 GMC 350 COE LCF project patina cab over engine truck - $3499 (Lincoln) (Link)
Great project truck here good for a rat rod style car hauler or vintage wrecker type of cab swap on a 1 ton chassis. I have a great one for sale on cl for this use. I can send you the link. Anyways this truck has a straight 6 270 I'm told it had a knock when parked but ran. Truck has a Washington title for it but it's not in my name. Pretty solid, little rust in door rockers. Cab corners solid. Check out the pictures. |

This one I reaaaaaally like. :metal:
1958 GMC COE LCF 3 axle 550 semi cab over engine patina military - $6500 (Lincoln) (Link) Factory Oldsmobile 370 v8 and Allison auto transmission 6 speed. Truck has 20" wheels. Air breaks, 3 axles, it is a project and will need to be hailed by a medium duty wrecker. I have used halls towing from auburn in the past for this. Kenny Hall is very good and reasonable price. The truck has. 54,000 gvwr and a survivor. I was told it was a federal aviavation fuel tanker but I th I it looks like gov fire at ice water tender. Either way it has less than 6000 original miles. I have owned it for about 3 years and haven't had time to do much with it. The previous owner had it running, I haven't had spark on it but it cranks. I had the fuel tank boiled out and coated. And I got 7 military unified. Surplus tires to replace the worst 7 of the 10 on the truck, that should get you a good looking set of 10. It's a very a unique historic truck. I have an original sales flyer and gov paper work from when it was sold at gov auction, it have never been titled but the paper work comes with it. |

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
The '58 Tandem is a pretty rare truck in nice shape to boot.
I've heard of Auto Transmissions in those old trucks. The trans is not for me, but I appreciated the rarity of it. |

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
The 7500 in the top picture would be a good parts truck.
Although I'd prefer a Detroit, the V-8 Cat most likely is a 3208. |
