Thanks Kyle.

As for the pics of the new stuff, and truck after alignment... I'll have to take pics when it warms up a bit. I have to wash it... She's filthy!

Just found this build and am joining in. I live in Katy and have quit a bit of car stuff in my garage. I/E car lift, press, engine hoist, parts washer, etc if you ever need a hand you are welcome to come over.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Sweet, thanks for the offer! I might just take you up on that. It's always nice to have an extra hand when needed... so if you need an extra set of hands, let me know and I'll be glad to help out.

I hope I don't bore you too much since this build will be very slow. I plan on driving it a lot while slowly adding or replacing along the way. Thanks for following along.

So I washed the truck today. Bought some leather cleaner/conditioner for the tonneau cover and cleaned it up. It turned out pretty clean, but there is still some dirt trapped in the creases. I'll have to get a bucket of soapy water and a brush next time.
I tried to install the Addco sway bar that PB has specifically made for them. Come to find out that my bumper brackets are in the way of mounting the sway bar mounts directly to the frame. I'll have to get the perches in order to mount the sway bar. Oh well... just means I'll have to wait a little longer to get it installed.

Oh yeah, pics... went to a small town called Wallis to take some pics. Driven by this place several times and have always thought this would be an awesome backdrop. Enough blab, on to the pics...

Got any pics of your sway bar interference area?
I'm not sure I understand the issue?

Thanks, but it was a spontaneous action. Had the thought and decided to go.

No, actually I didn't take any pics with the sway bar. I was only under there for a short time and didn't think about it. I connected the end links to the PB LCAs and the sway bar, then just lifted it up to the frame. It contacted the outer bumper brackets which hang below the frame. I just snapped these pics with my cell phone to show what I'm talking about (minus the sway bar). The sway bar would need to mount on the angled part of the frame, pretty close to where the bumper bracket bolts to the frame. Since I don't have the "stand offs" or whatever the brackets are called, I just ordered a set off of Summit Racing for lowered trucks. I think they're actually made by CPP. Hoping the brackets will fix the mounting issue.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Hmmm,... you might have to trim the bumper bracket a little also.

beautiful truck man, I'm in Katy and have been watching your build for awhile. I gotta ask if you know of any good shows etc. to attend. I'm wanting to take mine to lonestar throwdown in February.

Very nice pics, hope the drop bracket solves your sway bar issue. If not just do what Keith said and trim the bumper brackets

I'm hoping I don't have to, but you're probably right. We'll see...

Thanks! I haven't been to a good show in a couple of years and I'm actually starting to wonder what happened to some of the ones I used to go to. Lonestar Throwdown is supposed to be pretty good. I haven't ever been, but I hear a lot of good things about it. you might want to check out the Texas section in "regions" here. Some guys post notices once in a while.

Thanks! I hope so too. I'm hoping no trimming will be necessary, but if these brackets don't fix it, I'll do just that.

Thanks! I want to try and drop the front a little more, maybe an inch or so, but not sure how much these current wheels will allow. I'll be testing it soon. If I get it to work out with a lower stance, I'll post some more pics.

I was able to do some work on the truck today. Got the sway bar installed...
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...ps4564aeec.jpg

Started to get the rear air bags installed too...
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...ps042141ba.jpg
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...ps9e7b59c4.jpg

I got everything installed, and lines ran, filled the bags and found that the drivers side wouldn't hold any air. Found the leak in the fitting, so I took it back apart and this is what I found...
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...psd2d0dbf2.JPG
I'm guessing there was something wrong with the threads in the 1/2" x 3/8" (?) adapter. Contacted Travis with ProPerformance to get new fittings sent out. I'll probably get it finished next weekend.

knomadd 01-15-2014 12:56 PM

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Travis (Pro Performance) is AWESOME!!! I asked him to send me a bill for the new fitting and adapter so I could replace the damaged pieces and he just sent them to me, no charge! That's awesome customer service! Even little things like that help keep customers like myself coming back. The fittings showed up today, so I should be able to get it back in this weekend and complete my bag install. :metal:

Front aired out, after alignment. The tires sit in a bit more, as you can see by the marks left by the tires from last time.

Ride height...

Might have to raise the back a half inch or so. Looks like it's got a load in it. Also need to save for air management. This manual valve thing is nice for the wallet, but not for adjustability.

Truck is looking great. It does make it tough to go take aired out pictures without air management onboard. Might just carry around one of those 5 gal air tanks so your covered just incase.

Thanks! Yes it does make that difficult. I've been curious about the portable compressors and tanks, if it takes 3 minutes to get each of the front bags filled, it's probably not worth it to drop for pics until after I get air management installed.

It looks like there is very little difference between riding on bump stops and ride height for the rear. No wonder it's so rough over bumps. :uhmk:

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

How much air are you putting in the rear bags?
A bolt-in c-notch looks to be your next purchase,...

knomadd 01-19-2014 07:57 PM

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Has about 20-25 psi in that pic. No c-notch yet as I plan on towing once in a while. If I buy a newer pickup to replace my daily, I might go that route... or a full notch. Until that happens, this will be my workhorse.
