Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Wow! I wish I had the patience and the talent you guys are doing on your die cast models. Just curious, are the parts expensive?

went & picked up my stepper from the P.O., the sneaky pete, i think the posties must have been playing football with it
Attachment 1377260 the guy put all the loose parts in the ziplock, the knocked out engine, busted frame, & all the other assorted parts got knocked off in transit AND of course, the real reason for it & the only parts i really need......2 piece fender..... finally got the right style fenders, but they dont fit worth a darn... Attachment 1377262 kinda glad i got the x-cab on the go, about 3 hrs of farting around on 1 fender.... took a break after this & finished the susp on the x-cab Attachment 1377263Attachment 1377264 starting to resemble a dually now.... That sucks about the broken pieces. It looks good sitting on it's own . Nice job on the fenders. You can always send some rain this way, we can sure use it.

yeah, the fender was a bummer, but i ended up cutting off the bottom anyways....
and yes, i wish we could send our rain down to ya! should have kept my mouth shut about our sunshine-sky opened up fri nite & is supposed to last 'till wed....:waah: not looking forward to the '77's other fender, been kinda avoiding it, but i got the '96 pretty much ready for paint though the bush guard i modeled after the one on my buddy's '92, added some flaps, valve stems, hubs, all the shocks are done. just have to make some d-shafts & exhaust. i have some touch up paint from my 1:1 '90 stepper i will be using for color... Attachment 1377933Attachment 1377934 Attachment 1377935 printed up some mud flap decals, want to use the Lordco ones (my fav local auto parts supplier) but the blue mite clash with the body color, so made some chevy ones just in case.... really been on a crew kick last couple of weeks... was seriously going to convert the '77 dually to a crew, but.....revell in all there wisdom did the '77 in 1/24 scale....not really close, lots of cuttin', stretchin'....nope Attachment 1383111Attachment 1383112 Attachment 1383113 got a email yesterday, now i know where my black stepper i bought is-back at the senders in FLA.....screwed up the address..... and been trying to wrangle Ron at RMR into casting me another crew, with the stepper coming, there's my crew dually:metal: only crappy thing is i still need a long stepper in the fleet.... still going to see if i can make another crew out of them junk parts, see if i can do it with just whatever i have kicking around. |

thanks dale, them fenders were an ordeal, just getting them, getting them busted, getting them fitted......
got most of the running gear in, some small things to do yet made my own shocks then cut the loop off the stockers & stuck them together, & i used about twice as much tubing as i should have bending up that pass exhaust pipe. same with the d-shafts, made my own & cut the stocker u-joints off & jammed them together. Attachment 1385308 not much left on the body, should be painted in a day or so.... Attachment 1385309Attachment 1385310 |

just waiting for the paint to dry (nuclear green...) Attachment 1386022 while i'm waiting, had 1 extra quad left from my camper crew model, detailed it a bit, will prob go in the back of the ext-cab dually Attachment 1386023 fixed up the raft. was missing a bunch of the ropes, & rope loops, oars, scratched up a motor. made it from a windshield washer tank, air compressor motor, some styrene, & a prop from an old aircraft carrier model. did'nt quite turn out the way i planned, looked like something from the '50's, so printed up some '56 johnson decals & ran with it....this will go on the '77 Attachment 1386025Attachment 1386024 |

thanks dale, but i tell ya, NOT impressed with the revell re-issue snowplow.....hmmph..:waah:
i had planned on getting a few for the 73-87 fleet, but now i dont think so, not even really good for parts, most 73-87's are 1/25 anyways..... this is not looking good-3 days in the stripper & nothing has come off the cameo body yet, dont remember what kind of paint i used, but man oh man, looking like a sanding strip job :( Attachment 1387352 so....to kill some time while the cameo soaks some more.... started building a crew from some junk. just kinda wingin' it. the sneaky pete cab is a real pia. it's as brittle as a dried out leaf, just touch it lightly & something happens. managed to break it in 3 spots, & crack it in 2 spots. prob why it was so beat up when i got it.... Attachment 1387353Attachment 1387354 fill in the roof, make some proper pillars, a butt-load of sanding & shaping & i think i'll have a crew. just need a frame now, interior, axles, engine, box, tires..... starting to resemble a crew. put some roof ribs, drips, & window frames in. put a splash coat of primer over it to see where i still got to go over it with the sandpaper, then etch in some panel lines.... going threw the junk box, i got a motor & tranny, t-case, the hokey axles off the '77, can scratch a frame up, but i got nothing for a box.....yet Attachment 1388581Attachment 1388582 Attachment 1388583 |

Cab is coming together pretty nice. That's some tough paint on the Cameo. What do you use that strips the paint and chrome but doesn't attack the plastic?

dang super glue, had to CUT my ring finger off the frame....(dont want to screw up the frame now....) Attachment 1391304 '55 is standing on it's own, still quite a bit to do to the susp, but it's there. body on this aint the greatest. spent a couple hrs sanding the hood to get it sorta flush with the fenders, needs a little more i think. dont like the way the box & cab line up either, not the greatest. Attachment 1391301Attachment 1391302Attachment 1391303 chopped some of the front bulkhead off, brought it in a little closer.... Attachment 1391305 |

would you belive me if i told you i did it again? didn't take a pic, but was holding the t-case together & stuck it to my hand :dohh:
we finally caught some decent weather & been stacking the hrs, so a little slow on the cameo... still got some lines to run, steering gear & exhaust to make yet... Attachment 1395277Attachment 1395278 got the int done, all chrome blacked out, actually i lied, i'm going to leave part of the grille chrome, & the t-case lever is chrome, still working on the 454 (had to scratch another air cleaner...), the offending t-case... Attachment 1395279 dont like how the front of the box fenders are open, so i made a full bulkhead, primered up the body, couple minor touch-ups & hope to get some paint on it this weekend Attachment 1395280Attachment 1395281 |
