Re: Finally seeing some progress...

I finally have some "good times" in the truck. I installed the radio tonight. I need to put the knobs on and check over everything but it sounds decent. It's the retrosound radio with a chrome face and I only put the double 4 1/2 speaker setup under the dash which is good enough for me and my wife to hear. If you're in a car next to me.... get your own radio, haha. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow.

I'm assuming the previous owner had put a long tail automatic tranny in my truck before I bought it. Since it was such a wreck with no motor or trans I'm not sure. I put a short tail TH400 and the drive shaft I had was a little short. I had a new one made thats a weee bit larger, haha. I'll probably put the other on in the classifieds for anyone wanting to convert to a one piece and running a long tail trans. Here's a few pictures, notice a difference in size?

Ok, I know this is going to shock everyone.... I actually did a little work on it tonight. It's probably at lease 3-4 months since I touched it. Tonight I was working on the trottle linkage. I used a 6cyl rod, cut it down, and threaded it. Then using a universal cable kit, I robbed a few connection pieces from it. I'll have to check it out better in daylight and make sure everything is good on it. Here's a few pictures, not the best but they'll do.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...

looking good Nick....
I would like to see how you ran the Ron Francis wiring harness through the firewall etc.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...

I'll take some close up pics. Inside the air vent on the driverside kickpanel i drilled 2 holes and put some rubber gromets. All the wires that go the to grille/core support (lights, elec fan, horn, etc.) went through one of them. All the wires running to the rear of the truck went through the other and into 3/8 hard line, which I ran down the frame of the truck to the rear. I drilled 2 holes in the lower part of my firewall, where I placed to bulkheads. I used stainless lines I had made to connect to each one. One of the lines goes to the top of the intake for all of the motor wires. The other is going to go to the passengerside of the bellhousing with the starter wires. Probably not the best way to do it all but I just kind of went with it. I'm considering eventually putting one of the old school huge cadillac style air cleaners so it'll hide the intake, I hope.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...

Look at the engine pictures on page 9 and you'll see the bulkheads directly below whre the gas pedal linkage mounts to the firewall.

I finally ordered some door panels. When they came in I had them powder coated gloss black. Here thay are installed with the correct 67 armrest. I
m not much of a sticker person, but this one says it all. Maybe one day I'll take it off. I couldn't forget to show you guys a current picture of Madison. She's 7 months now and already thinking she's big enough to drive the truck. HAHA.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...

I got some more work done today. Although it's far from being completed... I took it for a slow spin around the block. The front end settled a little more and the front wheels/tires are way to big. No big deal because they're not what I wanted anyway. New wheels should be in soon. I need to figure out tire sizes. Any input would be great!!!

Front: 2 1/2" dropped spindles, 1" dropped springs - front rims are going to be 18x8
Rear: 5" dropped springs - rear rims are going to be 20x8.5

Thanks guys.... if it wasn't for all the good people on this forum I can honestly say it would not have been the same. Thanks again to everyone for the information, support, motivation, parts, etc. It's still not done and I doubt it will be for a while, but at least it's rolling the streets.

Lovin' the front bumper, where ya gonna mount your front plate?

Also, in post #196 it looks like a one piece door glass but that's not what you wound up with?
