Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I removed the paint from the new 72 gmc grille (I like the chrome) And just like I found out from this site, can't remember who told me but the acetone takes the paint right off,put a coat of chrome polish on it and it looks great.:gmc2:

Did some more laying under it today but this time took measrements and drew up my new frame rails for my back half. I will build the whole thing on a bench with my axle and link suspension/ ride height already figured into it on the bench, so when I get that done I just cut the rear of the frame off weld in my new section and boom a shortbed is born. :metal:
haha right. Hopefully going to find me some 5x2'' Steel at the shop by my house this week. The front section will be 5x2'' to slip in the factory frame rails and the C notch and the rear of the frame will be 4x2''. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
The "B" pillar, where the Custom Cab sails go, above the grey spot primer on the driver side.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
during the weekend on the 65 1ton I changed the oil, serviced the trans, replaced the carier baring, replaced the rear dualls with tubeless rims and tires, and gave everything a shot of grease.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Stayed a few hours after work today and worked on my stepside bed. A guy at work made me some caps and I welded them in. Also got all that old soggy wood out of it. Painted it so it doesn't rust and put it back outside.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Ordered an AC Bypass pulley and gutted a power steering pump to function as a bypass pulley, also started slicing and dicing the 95LT1 engine harness.

Pics from today. First one are the filler caps. My buddy at work thought it would be a good idea to break the sides of them. He made some for his bed too. They fit pretty decent. Gonna try and draw up some full size cardboard frame rails tomorrow to start getting my steel together. :metal:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I spent the last few days digging through boxes looking for my missing VIN tag. $30,000 invested and lose the one part the was free (and has no meaning:smoke:)
Apparently thats way to much to sand around for a body man, so he drilled it off last fall and promptly lost it!!! Lucky Me!!!! To his defense he did weld the holes closed for it:smoke: |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Putting my heater back in my truck, then i found out the cable that operates the heater on off switch is broke!! :banghead:
|
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
As for the heater thing i had some heater stuff go on also this week,
I got a new motor because mine got weak and was making real loud bad noises so i got one came home took it out relized it was just the fan....... No need to fix whats not broken so i take the motor back get a fan the dam fan cost about the same as the motor, they went up in price like 12 bucks up in price......... OUCH........ but it all works great now... So if you hear a nasty noise coming from the motor its prob just the fan... For those that have not messed with the heater yet.... Also changing that part made me so happy i owne this truck it was so dam fast and EASY these trucks are the BEST!!!! |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished all of the little details in the engine compartment. It's a used 250 that I bought from another board member 2 weeks ago. I gave it a little clean off, some new gaskets, and fresh paint.
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...rmtruck025.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...rmtruck041.jpg New battery tray and hardware too. How nice, I usually build my own. It was refreshing to just spend the cash and get one ready to bolt in. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...rmtruck042.jpg I needed a new radiator, so I ordered one of the generic Summit aluminum ones like Chief Rocka detailed in his thread. I mounted mine a bit differently, but it's in there real nice. Great price too. http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...rmtruck044.jpg http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...rmtruck043.jpg It took a bit of head scratching to come up with some nice molded radiator hoses since this is a non stock application now. It was worth it to me because I hate flex hoses. |
