Got a few cosmetic things done last night, side mirror mounted that my co-worker dug up in his shop. It matches the pitting of my door handles perfectly. Mounted my reverse light which is an old boat light lense on my bumper and got my modified V6 valve cover ready to paint and put on. I really want some opinions on the valve cover, it will be red to match my firewall and the chevrolet script painted silver. I'm just not sure about how it looks on top on the engine.

Fred looks great. Nice to see another one back on the road let alone taking the time to post your progress and ideas.. I have been a long time lurker in the build section here, been gathering up all the good ideas from everyone so thanks for taking the time to post your progress.

Also what did you use for the steering shaft and your gas pedal.

The s10 donor truck. The shaft is half s10 and half c10 welded together.

I decided to go another route with '52 valve cover. It was just gonna look unperporsioned using the whole thing so I cut basically the top out of it and then trimmed around my map sensor and then attached it using the fuel rail bolts. I think it added a nice pop of color to the engine. Maybe down the road I might add some corvette valve cover shrouds.

Then I got my '55 bel air hood ornament put on last night and me likey. It was a little uncentered as you can see in the last picture but, I fixed that with my rubber mallet.

Hey, I think I saw a bug splat on the hood, better get that off before it hurts the paint. :haha::crazy: looking cool.....Jim

Your truck turned out awesome! I love the patina! The engine cover turned out nice too. Keep driving the wheels off of it!

No bags here, although I did put some air shocks on the rear just to help the ride. Up front 1" coils/2" spindles and back has 2"blocks and second leaf removed.

How far off the frame is your cab and how tall are your front tires?

The cab is a 4x4 (3 1/2") of the frame, and the front tire height is 24".

What did you use for the MAF to intake adapter?I know you posted it on here but I cant find it,I thought is was a 4x3" plumbing adapter the one I got this weekend seems to big.

Yep, Joe that's the right size. The 4" side does seem to big... I too thought that will never work but, I just kept cranking the hose clamp and it tighted up. I think it's the fact of a round boot fitting to the oval TP. The MAF side should fit nicely into the 3" side.

At the last show I attended I was approached by a gentleman who got at interview with me and some shots of my truck to be featured on his website. He is a full time real estate agent and in his spare time created this web site for gear heads like us. My truck was put on last Friday so all that will check it out. I feel greatful and humbled that he chose me and my truck.

Sorry it's taken me this long to get this for you. The top picture is the type light I'm referring to used, and in the second you see the frame minus the one side I used. I measured the passenger door and then cut the new frame. The drivers door has a single screw about the latch then 2 screws middle ways down. The single one holds the top of the track to the door and the bottom two has a flat piece of metal which I took off and welded to the new track. Just a task of measuring and a little welding. Let me know if you need more info. I should have took a picture of it before I put it in.

I took this picture the other weekend and is one of my most favorite pictures yet. I bought a 86-93 s10 instrument bezel and will be getting started modifying it so the z28 guage cluster will look good in it.

Been in the process of getting some tune's in the truck. And man how car show time has snuck up on me, I still have so much to do. I bought a JVC head unit and mounted it up above the windshield,(I still haven't took any pictures of that), a pair of Crunch componants for the doors and a single 10" MTX woofer behind the seat, items are powered by a couple of Pioneer amps. I plan on getting my door panels made this week. Headliner to come shortly. It has been years since I have done any stereo installation but, I'm real pleased at the sound and how my box turned out.

Got my door panels made and now all the need is covering. I also took a picture of the overhead console that holds my radio which also needs covering. Also got to work on my instrument cluster bezel, which is the left over part of my '52 valve cover, a little plexiglass and some metal fab and it will be done.

if you make a rounded edge across the consolle so the front is a little resessed and make a extra front that you can fit inside the edges it will look more factory and you can cover it in leather using staples an straight pieces of leather tucked intoo the corners if you do it like that you dont need to sew any covering together if you make the extra front in metal you could allso paint it in the same colour as the body
another option is using the cloth stuff they use for covering car hifi speakers its realy thin and stretchy

Saturday was spent fabing up my bezel for my cluster. I'm really happy how it turned out, not bad for a left over valve cover. Now a little bondo and a good sanding then paint. I decided on painting it, the middle panel and glovebox door in the hammered silver. That should pop real nice off the red dash.

After that the task of moving my steering column over about 1-2 inches. Not looking forward to that.

Wow I feel like maybe I am on the right track. I have 1)51 chevy truck 2)94 s-10 chassis 3)a wrecked 1984 Camero drive trane and other misc parts! I eventually plan on a full paint job, but I will most likely run the patina for a year or two before I paint it.

I like how you used a crossflow radiator. Not sure I want to tackle a mod like that since this is my first build. Will probaby go with a mustang rad or one of the customs that can be had.

Awsome build Dude. You have inspired me to get back out to the garage.

I need some help guys. I bought a pair of seatbelts from the boneyard from a late 90ish Denali and the PS is giving me fits, the rear belt of the unit is not wanting to release properly. Any ideas on how to fix it? TIA

maibe you mounted the belt backwards (inside out)thats simple to test just try to turn the buckle on the beltside over and stick it in that way maibe that works if it does then
you only have to remount the belt the right way (maibe you got two driverside belts )
does the driverside lock in the passengerside ?

I used a little WD40 on a latch this weekend that wouldn't snap right and solved it. I have used silicone spray on the belt it self to get it to work better. One thing you might consider is when a newer car is in an accident it pulls the belt down tight and has to be replaced along with the airbags, some of them have a co2 cartridge that goes off in an accident and pulls the belt tight. we replaced a set last yr that had a 1" difference in the old and new

Like Orge says neccesity is the mother of invention and I proved it right Tuesday night, my wife didn't like where the seatbelt fell when she sat in the truck(notice the difference in the picture). So I had to move the mounting point down, the reason it was up high was because of getting a wrench on a nut to tighten it down. So I had to invent something (treaded rod with socket welded to it) after my original plans went totally wrong.

I'm gonna try messing with the belt again tonight, maybe a little p.b blaster will fix it. The thought crossed my mind about the accident affecting it. The belt at the top of the picture is the one that won't release.

First show of the year on Saturday....... I can't wait!!!!!!!
