That is the frame underneath the drivers side door.

Ahhhh yeah I have to admit that doesn't look good. Which I know that's stating the obvious, what could have caused that?

It's normal.

Don't freak out.

Chevy put it there to clear the massive cat back in the day. There are threads on here specifically regarding that part of the frame. It is normal.

I know I freaked out when I first saw mine.

Not sure. I was going to take the truck to the paint shop yesterday evening to get a hard quote and see when they were going to start on it but our meeting got canceled. I have to call around lunch and see when he wants me to bring it up there.

What was the over all drop on the front and back? I just completed a drop on the front of mine and it came out to exactly 4". The back is next and I am thinking of doing a flip kit but don't want to go too low.

Sodell, the rear dropped approx. 4.25" with the 5"flip kit from DJM.. What are your plans for your truck?

The PO took out a leaf spring and it sat about 1" lower, and I would have had to replace the springs to do a flip kit. I just installed a set of 2" shackles. I think I still need a bit more so I am going to get a set of hangers, I think it needs another inch or two. What do you think?

I think another 1" would sit perfect unless you want a little front take then drop it 2.

Maybe 1". I like these trucks a little bit higher in the back because it makes them look fast to me for some reason. I like those black wheels and white lettering on your truck. Looks great!

I went and talked to the paint shop yesterday evening and I have to drop my truck off July 8th to get started. I'm super excited!! :metal::lol: I have attached some pics of his work. I think I am going to strip the truck down (Trim, interior, grille, etc...) as it will save me 400$. The paint in the picture isn't wet sanded and buffed, just straight paint and clearcoat. I am going to get my truck wet sanded so it will remove any orange peel. Oh and please excuse my ugly mug! lol

77ChevySharkBite 06-27-2013 09:18 AM

Re: Project Platinum C10

That's going to look even better since it'll be wet sanded! :metal:

Hey that's how i dress for work too, actually could pass as a golf outfit.

Thanks man! I am excited. I have picked out a few colors I am thinking about using. Please provide some input guys. I have picked Gun Metallic for the top color and Alabaster Silver Metallic for the bottom.

Is that Gun Metallic, the same as Gun Metal Grey? I think that combo would look sharp! Being your going to try and "re-make" the platinum edition look that bottom color might need to be a little dark, so maybe have the painter throw a little bit of black in it to darken it a tad? Actually i take that back, I just went and googled it those colors look spot on!

I love the grey that's on my Accord it kind of looks like that Gun Metal color it has a dark tint to it, but when the sun hits it, it has a a little bit of shine to it.

Yeah I think Gun Metallic is the same as Gunmetal Grey. Yeah I was going to use the same paint codes as the Platinum edition F250 but I like the Gunmetal Grey better than the Mineral Grey. The Silver is about the same.

Very true man, plus that Gunmetal Grey is going to be a little bit darker, it's going to look mighty fine! I can't wait to see it all done and finished up. I know you said they're starting on it July 8th, but do you know how long it's roughly going to take them to finish it all?

Nice!!! The painter told me to choose my silver and several different grays and we can put them side by side in the sunlight to determine which looks best!

So I was near the tire shop yesterday and stopped to look at my rims because I hadn't actually seen them yet. Snapped a pic while I was there.

I am not sure where I found this pic but I think it would look nice with the two tone like this, lighter on the very top and bottom and darker on the doors hood, ect. I threw one pic in for fun< lol

I don't know how you can stand to have wheels and tires at the tire shop and not on your truck. I know you're trying to wait until after paint but that would drive me crazy

Man Sodell, that truck is awesome! I love it. Reason I'm doing the scheme I'm doing is because I wanted the F250 that came out like this but never could afford it....lol. I know it was a Ford... :( on the other hand, is there something you need to tell us?

Also I love the fact that truck has the factory trim! Could be one of my favorites I have ever seen. Setx, it's hard trust me. I've thought about having them put them on so I can ride around town.....lol

Oh and did I mention I added the 1/2"spacer under the driver side coil spring and replaced the shocks. Well one shock that is as I stripped the nut on the lower control arm. I have to get a tap to re thread it. :( I was so disappointed in myself for having that brain fart!

I think I'm going to take the lower control arms off and grind off that keeper the spring is sitting on. It's suppose to catch the end of the spring but if I put the end in the keeper it doesn't sit right in the upper bucket. Not sure what to do.

Making some progress. Don't let the little stuff bother you. If we didn't make some mistakes along the way and learn from them it wouldn't be nearly as rewarding when we finished.

The spacer leveled me out. Pulled the dimensions on both front tires and came out with the same dimension.

So just gonna leave the spacer? why not just trim the other spring a little to make it sit the same?
