Re: 5.3 swap build so far
you could make a mount on that corner where all that room is right by your ecu or that green open spot on your firewall
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
my buddy was sayin something about using a spacer to mount it...not sure what kinda spacer hes talkin about though
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
me either, maybe a spacer to suspend it from the wheel well, but that would get closer to your hood hinges, too bad your wires wasn't longer...youd have more options
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
I think I can still mount it on the firewall...ill have to check it again.
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
It's interesting to see how y'all are mounting the pcm. I was going to try and mount the oem holder off my 2001 donor onto my fender well... I wish the oem wiring harness was longer so I could mount inside the cab. However, this isn't a show truck so I will mount where ever it will reach too. Would be nice to mount it and make it look just like the 2001 would when you popped the hood.

Re: 5.3 swap build so far
I was going to mount mine in the cab on the trans tunnel but I changed my mind...I didn't feel like drilling another big hole in my firewall. I was going to also get the factory pcm mount but then I got the idea from dman1982 to use the plate for the cold air intake to make a mount and its workin out great...saved some cash right there too

Re: 5.3 swap build so far
well mine should do even better since mine is 2wd with stock 235/75/15s on it.
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
It might, a lot of it depends on the gear ratio, tune, and how you drive
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
what gears are u running again? mines 3.08
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
4.56's...had 2.73's...they didn't like 35 inch tires
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
I want to go with 3.55 or 3.73 when i have some money
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far

Re: 5.3 swap build so far
Hey dman...what did u use for a fuse block cover? I need to get one for mine before water gets in it or somethin
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
the guy that did my harness did it, i dont have a fuse block cover, your talking about the ones for the relays on the harness right? i got them high and away from where water could get to them
|
Re: 5.3 swap build so far
Yeah thats it...i have mine sitting on the inner fender. I have the notorious kink in my hood so i kno water will get in there especially when i wash the truck
