Re: My Facetruck thread.
I'm sorry to hear about Dave. It sure sucks when death becomes a better place, but I get your meaning. Certainly not what he deserved.
John, buddy, you will be in my thoughts until I hear better news. I know you're a survivor |

We laid John to rest today.
We had a good laugh, and I can't help thinking John was laughing with us, knowing how many times John and I dealt with the "old car blues" in our travels. I drove the red and white super because it is one of my most dependable rides. We stopped for fuel on the way and when I tried to start it, nothing. A friend ran me back to the shop in his Schwartz chassis, LS3, Tremec six speed, 72 SWB. We got there quick. I jumped in the Longhorn with tools, and the starting problem turned out to be a loose battery cable. Then when we were leaving the cemetery, ours friends 50 Ford custom wouldn't start. It never gives trouble. John was a jokester, and I think John was messing with us. |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
My Father always told me that a good measure of a man's life is the number of people that come to pay their respects.
From the looks of it, John was loved and touched many peoples lives. Rest well John...when you're not busy pranking your buddies. |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
You live in God's country. John lived in a good place
|
Re: My Facetruck thread.
He had a lot of buddies from the look of that parking lot. A lot of nice cars....

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
Highway 9 goes thru Shirley Ar where my Sis used to live nearby.. I acually looked at Mountain Home for a move to retire some years ago ,,pretty popular place for people from everywhere to move to...
Are you one of the guys carrying a spare tire ? I really do not know exactly why I ask ,,just do not see spare tires on them rigs .. |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
People from everywhere in Mt. Home, most from the Chicago area.
Lots of quality medical services at Mt. Home. I had a hernia surgery there a few years ago. My machine is the narrow one with the spare mounted up high. It's the trail model. I give up a little bit of ride quality, but I can squeeze between trees easier. I run the tires at low pressure, to help the ride. |

Re: My Facetruck thread.
oh nothing, just registering new scan tools for a couple of my shops :D
seems we can't get through a single day without a CEL or MIL light anymore  had to order enough for each shop, too much labor and downtime running around borrowing scan tools.. our laptops cover most of the HD but Cummins Insite, Detroit DDEC, Cat ET, etc. proprietary software for bidirectional comms gets too expensive to maintain annual subscriptions for each satellite shop.. Pro-Link was bought out by Snap-on and they've come a long way for HD and LMT third party diag.. J1939, J1708, and OBDII protocols built in :) Modis covers our light duty now that our older Solus tools are no longer software supported.. ya know, just dummy mekanikin' stuff  the steak brand was just a fun toy my buddies and I used to display our tool snobiness  |

WE were talking about Fresno a while back. I just realized my dad was inducted into the United States Army 24 June, 1943 in Fresno, CA.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
Nobody ever knows anything about it.
I asked about a trailer fender laying in the back lot. Mechanic said the story he got was a blow out tore it off. The holes were all still intact. I made a wild guess and bet the mechanic. They had loaded it such that the fender was pressed against the tires. A few miles down the Interstate and the sidewalls wore out. We had a twenty foot tilt trailer stolen this week. Was it in the fenced lot. NO. Who parked it beside the road? We don't know. |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
My utility trailer has removeable sides. I worked up some soaked heavy oak at a friend's place and loaded it up. I got about two miles and realized a trailer tire went flat... cold wet dreary night. The sidewall was sliced through at the tread all the way around. Back it up to a year or so earlier and that fender had fatigued at the welds that mounted it, so I bolted it to the expanded steel side until I put new fenders on, which are sitting in the shed. Worked out well until this day. The sides are held down on each side by a rubber Jeep hood latch near the front. Hit a pothole and the rear of the side can pop up out of it's pocket. That must be how it was when I loaded it, so the side was bulged and the trailer was squatted from the weight... max load. The bolt head went to work on that tire as soon as the trailer started moving. So there you have it. Perfectly good, almost new, tire and wheel ruined.

Re: My Facetruck thread.
This is quite a thing you started Larry (other, I guess. I don't know either). Almost 100 pages. I'm not going to jump in and be all familiar, but I will say that what you told us of John made an impression on me and I'm sure he is missed greatly by many.
As far as Facetruck, it's kind of brilliant. Really enjoy seeing all the different types of vehicles people are involved with. Other projects, including work and home. Seeing parts of the country that I haven't been yet. Funny idea that you started off, and actually is more worthwhile than the real thing. Chris |

It was funny to go back and see how it started. I couldn't remember exactly. I just clicked a page or two in the middle and had a laugh or two. I also was reminded Chevyland is in the middle of his Christmas tree season. |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
There are a bunch of Larry's on here and at some point we had a mix up in a thread, so I just added "other" to my Larry.
It goes something like here is Larry and Larry and his other brother Larry. |
