might get a nice piece of birdseye or that other swirly stuff glued on there and paint and polish and paint the edge with a little black line to hide it either that or flatten the wood thats on there and fill it up with lacker

I was thinking a flywheel or a piece of granite.;) I'm not sure how thick you can make laquear brfore it starts to crack. I've seen some cool tops with stuff inside the laquear. Saw one with hand carved fish in it the laquear was abour 5 inches thick.

Re: Daverods project 66

Question? I was wondering why on some old cars the roof on the outside looked like it had a sunroof but if you looked in the inside it was just a normal roof. I saw this on several cars. The roof on the outside looked like it was covered in leather. I could'nt figure it out. I did find out that the frame I found was a 1928 model a truck. I guy had one there that he found under a tree. It still ran.;)

They all had those kind of roofs. The hot rodders filled them with steel. On some of the sedan roofs they would put a roof from a doaner station wagon, or a van with the ribs. ;)

Re: Daverods project 66

could be they just layed on metal to fill the raingutter in the front and ground of the rest , makes the roof look a bit like an english flat cap

This ones for you Dave, We finally got together at the MotorFest after Dave and his wife made the 5 hour trip to the south western side of Idaho.
Lots of cars and trucks in the show and way too many to look at them all.
We watched the downtown evening cruise from the marble steps of the Idaho capitol building.
And thanks again for not kicking me............

i drove behind a lowrider on a bumpy road , when they have the real deal hydraulics there basicly without any suspension unless they have some hydraulastic canisters (a canister with a membrane in the middle one end filled with hydraulic oil and connected to the hydraulic cylinder the other end filled with a compressable gas , look at the older citroën's they have them from the factory) mounted somewhere in the lines , and ride rockhard

I would love that, and a good place and time to meet. :metal:
I can make a airbagged truck hop. My son even made his 55 Caddy hop. It blew peoples minds. The cops didn't like it though. :haha:

Home again. It was good to meet everyone. Had a great time. ;)Bubba turned out to be to nice to kick in the nuts. That low rider had springs over the rods so I guess it had some suspension.I was thinking the same thing.

Re: Daverods project 66

All you need are 1/2" valves, and lines, plus strong bags and lots of pressure. Big tanks will help too for more hops. And lots of $$$$

daverod 07-10-2011 04:28 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

I made it hopp once already. I usally plug it into my shop aircompressor then open the valve slowly. One time the valve was aready open and I just snapped the airhose on the end, Scared the hell out of me.

i heared of a story once about someone , slickly drunk and needled by his friends opened up the restrictor fully of his full size co2 bottle to see how high his truck would jump.
now wide open thats 860 psi and it jumped allright , busting all 4 airbags in the process , i wouldnt be suprized if it split open all the airlines lengthwize too

Re: Daverods project 66

I installed air bags in a Ford Ranger, and the guy was hopping it at a cruise night. He popped the bag right next to me, and it stung my leg. I was only 5 feet away. It was firestone bags. Conitechs are stronger. But Slam Specialties are the strongest.
