Wow that looks sweet! Does it install the same way as the factory window, or is it glued in?

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

I figured I might as well post up pictures of my two crew cabs that I have. The first one is a 1985 GMC 2wd dually that is getting converted to 4x4. The second one is a 1984 Chevy 2wd I just bought because I need a new cab for my 85 because the roof is rusted out and the rockers are gone, more work than I really want to do.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...b/DSCN1063.jpg

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...b/IMG_0323.jpg

I might end up converting the 84 frame to 4x4 and put my rusty 85 cab on it and do some cheap body work on it to get it presentable and have both a 4x4 dually and a 4x4 single wheel.

Absolutely LOVE the flush mount rear glass kit!!! Definitely getting one for my project since we're doing new rear glass anyway. Also love the 1-pc door glass, but as mine is a crew cab I think the vent window looks better considering the rear glass also has a 1/4 window in it. The shop building my truck (WFO Concepts) will be ordering this kit from you pretty soon!

I love the one piece rear but I also like my vent windows on the sides. We northern fellas need that feature to defrost the mirrors when they're iced.....

Agreed. We need a kit to go one-piece on the rear doors on crews and Suburbans.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

Yeah, if they had it for front & rear doors it'd be a lot better look! Doubt that the demand is high enough for that though that they would design a kit.... Vent windows do have their pluses though!!!

She might be a 90 model but the front grille/headlights are of an 87 or older model.

He use to be pretty active on the site but he hasn't answered messages the last several months. I've bought truck parts off of Rick and got to know him a little. Rick has a lot of interesting trucks from the 73-87 and 67-72 genres. His yard is littered with frames and just about any part you could ever need. Probably what mine would look like if I lived out in the county and not in town.

I like that big green truck!:metal:

I belive they still used those grills and headlights in the custom deluxe's
he's got a few options like a/c and wiper delay so its not a total plain jane. if it had no options it would of probly had the single head light and the that big ugly one piece looking grill

hey Kirlinator whats the plans for your truck? if your thinking of bagging it you got enough steel in those big ass bumpers to make your notch and bridge and probably be able to scrap the rest for bag money. lol the truck looks like a good starting point

I have to agree, love the look. In fact I might consider one of these myself. What kind of cost? Availablility? Shipping issues?

I'd like to see a one piece set for the rear doors as well, in fact I looked at trying to do a set myself, but haven't gotten there yet.

Looks great!

We have a donor door to start the R/D on the rear doors. We have the glass instock and ready to ship for the flush fit back glasses. $245 green tint $265 privacy tint. + shipping usually $15-30

Keeping it as is wrt ride height; adding semi mirrors and air horn system, CB radio, DiamondBack truck cover w/LineX, fix some minor rust and mechanical issues right now; later will add running boards, marker lights, Cibie driving lights, paint red with black door guard trim. It was and will be a highway hauler!

There's something about that "Sourdough" truck that I just love...

Also really dig the look of our trucks without headliners. Kirlinator's truck reminded me of it. There's so much interesting detail up in the roof that you never get to see with a headliner in.

1 Ton, truck's looking good. I think orange will be rad looking!

Hopefully this won't get this thread moved to the drag racing section... But how about a little love for the old Emergency West wheelstander!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KX60sO-oK8

www.schrodo.com

Haven't seen this truck in ages and wonder what happened to it after the owner passed away. But the Ms. Misery drag truck reminded me of how awesomely insane this truck was.

Anyone remember the build back in Super Chevy or Hot Rod (something like 211 years ago, ha ha).

Enjoy.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

the dual wheels on that wheelstander reminded me of this guy I know, he used to build multi-engine tractor pullers. He built a 2wd rcsb that's sort of a cross between a stepside and a dually, built the bed custom. It's got dually wheels and street tires, 454/th400 in the front, and a blown alcohol hemi facing backwards in the back. Driving around it just looks like a guy delivering a race motor (it's street legal). On the track he used the 454 to get it moving, then at about 70mph he'd hit the second pedal and the hemi took over. All it did was light up the tires and make it squirrelly, 235/85/16 10 ply truck tires have no interest in playing that game. On paper the truck will supposedly do just over 200 mph, but obviously you can see where traction is a problem.
Not knowing anything about multi-engine setup, my first question was what's going to stop the high revving 2200hp hemi (6 gallons of alcohol in a 1/4 mile!) from eating the stock 454? Well, nothing I guess, because after only a few runs the hemi ate the 454. So now he is building a 4.3 v6 Chevy for it. Why? I haven't a clue. Maybe he thinks it will withstand a sudden, crank driven over rev better than the heavy big block. But now it will probably be a wheelstander, if it ever hooks up that is.
Sorry, no pics, but its not a crewcab so I couldnt put it here anyway.

The guy who used to build my race motors has a crew dually with the same paint as the one pictured above. Was that ZZ Top paint job something one of the conversion places commonly did following the success of Elimiator or just a random national phenomenon?

my 88 R20 crewcab when it got hit a few weeks ago. :whine:
2WD, SRW, 6.2 Diesel, TH400, FF14, EX USAF, 62K original miles, no rust, body used to be super clean

i miss my truck. hit and run. went to go to work and found my truck like this. damaged body left side from rear bumper to front fender. this truck drove like a dream before. now she pulls hard to the left.

anyone know where to get good replacement front suspension for my R20? i need two new tie rods at least.

M88CC... Don't know where you're located in CA (central CA or Sacto area would be my guess from the background pics but no clue really.)

But Classic Industries and CCP have a lot of stuff. Plus junk yards and craigs list... There's TONS of parts trucks around.

Bummer about gitting hit. I lost a '77 C20 crew to a guy who ran a stop sign. No fun, but looks like your truck should buff right out...

its mostly body damage. it just sucks because i searched for over 2 years for this truck. i was looking for a crewcab but not a dually and a diesel. i found it with 60,000 original miles with a fairly clean body, great running order. the bed i could care less about, easy to change out the bed. my biggest complaints are the huge dent in the cab and my perfect alignment is now totally off.

im sorry to hear about your 77crew. did you at least get compensated fairly for it?

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

All this makes me fear for my 77 once it hits the roads... Going with "agreed value" coverage so I am hoping it'll be easier to have saved if something does happen - and if I don't wind up in prison for killing the other driver... :-)
