The next time you replace bulbs in your dash try these LEDs. They are 1.89 each on Amazon but wow they really make the dash nice a bright and even light. I used them for the directional's too!

I'm taking advantage of my truck being parked for the winter to do a few projects. Tonight I finished installing a new turn signal switch in my non-tilt column. It went easier than I thought, but I couldn't see any way of feeding the molded, half moon shaped plug through the small opening in the housing. I ended up making a clean cut near the dash connection and resplicing the wires back together. Turned out pretty good I think.

Swapped out my Flowmaster Super 50s for a pair of Dynomax 17615 Installer Turbo mufflers dumped under the axle. ....Little quieter, but not as quiet as I would like. Don't have the room for a larger muffler without rerouting the pipes..

Dumping the exhaust under the bed is always going to be noisy , try full length pipes and enjoy the quietude .

Yea...I know....the space I have between the axle and bed is very limited and I don't want to go to a muffler shop to see IF they can make the 2.5" pipes clear.
If I go to a shop, I would probably have them reroute from the headers back.

Working on firewall mod to put the dash back in but make it user friendly when needing to pull it back for maintenance when needed.
Stretched dash with mods in back ground.

Swapped out the pair of Dynomax 17615 installer turbo mufflers I just installed back to my Flowmaster Super 50s.:uhmk: Turns out the turbos we not any quieter than the 50s and sounded crapy at idle and revved. Shipping them back.

I removed my gauges for a good cleaning. I plan to repaint the silver on the edges and then put the wood grain decal on it. I used self adhesive wood grain shelf paper on the glove box door and ash tray to see it I liked the look. It turned out so nice and matches the decal from Brother's Truck so well I might just leave it that way. OPINIONS?

FWIW ;

I like the sound of a robust engine ~

I often don't run any muffler at all but them I have nearly stock engine .

A crossover on a V configuration engine will always make it run better and mellow out the exhaust bark at the same time .

I can't imagine a rig so low you can drive it but not have space to run a 2 - 1/2" exhaust .

If the pipe gets too close to he bed wood , simply install a sheet metal heat shield like GM did back in the 1940's , it worked perfectly .

I've had new fender emblems sitting on the bench for a couple of years now, so I decided to change them while my truck is parked. The bed has been pulled and new bed wood is being milled and prepped. I pulled the inner fenders as part of the job, and I am going to have them painted to match my exterior paint.

It has been a few years ago but I think I did it by removing the pins from the half moon connector by just depressing the little tab. I wrote down the color and what hole they were in. If I had to do that today I would just take a cell phone photo of it.

Installed the rebuilt 700R4 two weeks ago. Shifts like new, but the mileage on the truck is horrible. I'm blaming the old engine. lol

California just came out with them. $40 environmental plates.
They call the "Retro Plates", or something like that.
So, they are not as cool as original black plates.

Same colors. But they have seven letters/numbers plus a 1/2 space
anywhere you want to place it.

Already, I couldn't get C10. But CI0 was available.
So, I snagged them.

Man! Thanks for posting colgad.

When I looked up, I saw that my "Premium" subscription to the Forum had run out.
Best $25 I spend every year. Been doin' it for a lot of years.

So, I guess I could say that today I put the plates on *and* got the truck info set up for the next year.

Couldn't really get motivated enough to get under the truck and in the mud to pull the bad starter, and drop the oil pan (again). Damn intermediate shaft won't seat the distributor all the way, so I got another one to try.

Anyway, I decided to take the plunge and cut the dash for a stereo. 😱

I'm pretty happy.

Man, I like those plates wish G.A. came out with something like that (lol). I went thru scurried the Internet for a nice year specific 71 plate, found one and ended up finding out I couldn't use it on my truck because u have to be 70 back to use as a tag on back go figure, so I put it on the front

Played around with this 9'stepper again today.
I figured I'd pull all four wheels too check those brakes but i started banging out the rear fenders. They were pretty much smashed flat on the top. I wanted too check all the brakes out.but it was ovious I needed too clean all the mud and gunk before anything.
Out came a barrowed pressure washer (kid burned mine up)
Lil " scrapping and got pretty wet but the mounds of crap are gone.
Finished the day clr ing the ds rear fender it was the last part that needed it.
Tommarow when it's all dry out there I'll get too them brakes.

I'm debating getting them for my '72. Not sure if it's worth it, since we'll be leaving the state within the next five years.

But I'm gonna have to do something. Currently have no front plate, and the rear one is so damaged it's almost unreadable. No tickets yet, but been pulled over with warnings twice already.
