Had oral surgery on friday so not really feeling good still. :censored:

I am Very pleased with what it took 3 days to do... :dohh:

Whew, DUDE! That turned out FANSTASTIC!

What finish is that? Automotive clear or something else? Too bad its not very shiny! lol.

That might be the most beautiful bed wood I've ever seen. Huge congratulations.

What's next, if anything? Is the truck finally done?

Thanks Dan, next is off to the interior. Was gonna try to start my kick panels and sun visors today but no luck, will probably start tomorrow or Tuesday. I still need to take the later model Chevy seat to my buddy who does upholstery.
I am going to do it in a tuck and roll, with a headliner embossed with a Bowtie.

I almost forgot, I finished with "Man O War" it's a marine varnish, then had a wood finisher color sand and buff it out for me.

I went to my first car show (not a big deal, there are 2 held on fridays and 2 more held on saturdays EVERY WEEK), but it was my first to sit there and talk to people. I met a guy from Chandler with a beautiful 49 AD. He told me he spent $60,000 just for the paint job! Sorry, too dark to take pics, but it was awsome. He said there was 700 hours just in the body work. Made me feel bad, I thought I had a lot of time in my truck (750 hours in the entire build) :)
But on a brighter note... he only had 3000 miles on it since he finished it in January of this year. I have over 2000 miles in just a month :)

We took our 56 out for its first highway run. There seems to bee some vibration right before we hit 60 mph so I'm thinking either the pinion angle at the transmission needs to change or the u joint at the slip yoke is gone. But it was nice to see how it handles and rides at faster speed.

Ordered parts and to the paint store to try and match some paint for my interior, it's not an exact match but it's pretty close.

Since Da Beast arrived it's been non stop work, with everyday changing my mind. Yesterday was rear brake day! Removed my alternator so I could install the proper mounting bracket. Removed rear corner windows today I'll remove the rear center window. Straightening out some of the wiring. Lots to do as ya'll know.

Drilled out all the stripped clutch head bolts on my hood, fianally got the old emblem and center strip off. Pulled the emblems and now the hood is ready for the sandblasters.

Fabguy that bed is awesome. Looks great.

Picked up my shipment from LMC. $1200 worth of cab repair panels and box cross sills. I got a new back panel as well. Should keep me busy for the winter. Will post some pics later.

Not a damn thing!...BUT....I confirmed once again it's sometimes better to be lucky than smart. Which helps me a lot cause I ain't all that smart!

We're out at London Bridge on Lake Havasu and noticed quite a few nice hotrods running around town. I got here just before dark and was towing so I couldn't go driving around to find more. Turns out Sunday the Goodguys Texas Road Tour is having a show here and I'll still be here to see it. Pix coming guys.

Refinished my small block serpentine mounts and mounted them to the BBC using kwik performance mounts. I had the cast iron BBC mounts and man were those things heavy, a total of 32lbs on my bath room scale.

I actually feel like a neglectful truck owner. I haven't driven mine since Saturday. I pop into the garage every day to see how the old Dirtbag is doing but the plates expire in 12 days so I'd like to get it out a couple more times before then. After that, it's back in the shop to be partially disassembled and get it ready for body work and paint

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Busy weekend.

Spent yesterday removing tar from the bottom of the panel body. What a miserable job.

Three thoughts kept rolling thru mah haid all day-

* Why the (bleep) am I doing this? No one will ever see it.

* Did the (bleep)er (bleep)ing PO work on a (bleep)(bleep)ed road crew?

* Beer waiting in the fridge.

I actually wrote a song whilst de-tarring but I can't post it here. Outside of tar, PO, and road crew, most of the lyric is expletives. It is however, sung to the melody of, "I've Been Workin' on the Railroad."

Today, I got out the power tools and hacked out the plywood bed.

Put the faux leather on the kick panels and mocked up the ac vent, courtesy light and speakers. Speaker grilles may become grey, want to see how it goes with the rest of the black in the interior. Vents are 09 Mustang, Courtesy light 64 Olds Starfire, speakers cheap for now.

Here is the Starfire courtesy light lense. Do not know why it is different than other Olds, maybe the depth profile. Diameter is the same at 2".

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

found out that my truck SUCKS the gas at 85 mph. Guess I won't be doing that very often. Took it to work, and kept up with this guy in a Land Rover. I sorta thought he was irritated with me just sort of hanging back, at 85 mph. I know he could have gone faster than me, but the freeway was getting crowded.
Besides, the cheapie electric fuel pump was real close to it's maximum output. I could feel the engine sort of starving a little bit.
