Well, here is the new Scroggins-Dickey vortec tpi baseplate, mocked up with Kurt Lindner tpi

I believe it will be hooked up with FAST XFI mutiport fuel injection system...more to come on this part, as im still reading and learning which system is best for my app.
EFI Connection is still in the running, uses LS1 components w/1 coil per cylinder

Intake heater hose has to be changed for a 45 degree fitting...back into the season of working on the truck....lets see how far i get this year:smoke:

Is that the standard flow or high flow base?

#SD3816- doesnt say, but you can bolt on any factory or after market runners. Edelbrock offered hi flo

Im leaning more towards low end torque, as opposed to high rpm hp. As you know, these things stop flowing around 4500

Any advise you can give me would be great, did you solve your problem.....
I have a great tuner with a dyno local to me

We never did get that engine to start and run right. My son solved the problem with an RPM Air Gap and a 750 Holley.

I think you will have better luck with either an aftermarket ECM such as the FAST XFI, Holley Avenger or at least an OEM OBD II PCM such as the 0411, than we did with the OBD I ECM we were trying to use.

From what I've read, the EFI Connection coil per cylinder conversion is a step in the right direction also. Although I haven't checked in the cost of that conversion, to know how affordable it is.

I have nationally renowned tuner in my back yard, hes saying that an efi connection would be an overkill for my application and driving styles, so it will be the xfi system from fast

Cost is comparible with the two units, about 2 grand give or takel

Re: PO has me PO'd

Since you have a good local tuner, you will have a big advantage over most of us in converting to EFI. When my son and I went thru this, we were dealing with someone 1200 miles away. At the time I did not know we had a decent chassis dyno and tuner not far away. Plus with the FAST XFI being a self tuning controler.

I agree, it will help me, since i have zero knowledge in this area! Plus when i put my overdrive trans in the truck, it will plug in....

Like you said, self tuner will help!

First problem, throttle body has water outlets that are getting in my way, so i have to cut them off. They were used to prevent icing in the unit, so they can go away, since i dont live in alaska

Started screwing around with the throttle body, of course 4 of 7 screws where seized, soaking in pbpower blaster and gunk right now. Then ican cut off the water outlets

Probably some heat and tapping the studs will soften them up

Re: PO has me PO'd

Started to fool around with all three cables, or putting a round cable in a square bracket.

Found an oversized washer, ground down to square, and a press fit in the bracket. Corners will be silver soldered, as there is a small gap.

The other square holes are the exact fit for oem cables, cruise and throttle

Might build a collar to keep the kickdown cable in place

Thanks for looking and the compliments....wanted fuel injection, so i can remote start in the winter, always liked the look of the early tpi stuff, and this one fell in my lap.

Maybe, some day i can afford the englese system, looks like the early quad webers

Looks good Jim. It is amazing how many changes a project goes through the longer you work on it.

FI is definately an improvement over most carb setups.

Time and money dictate the direction my build goes, in the beginning didnt have alot of money, but with my current job, things looked brighter. So, i could expand on some of the improvments i wanted...FI was one of them!

Thanks for your encouragement Bud, and following along. There are times when i think this project will never get done, but i sit back and look at the whole and where it all started, and i do see progress...

This fi will set me back, but i would rather have the truck roll out of the shop just the way i want it

I turned 62 the other day, thinking of retiring, but this truck is what keeps me working.....

Thanks AJ, one other thing i forgot to mention in my rant....all the great people i have met along the way, 50 odd years and every day you meet someone with more info. then you previously had. Great board, huh?

Wish i had access when i started fooling around with cars

Re: PO has me PO'd

Thanks Bud, yeah, me too! The bottom end is the only thing in question, when i pulled the heads the cylinder walls where questionable......sooo, down the road it will have a stroked 400 sbc

Right now, im having problems with the water outlet on the intake. Been looking around to see what is available for the 1 1/2" outlet that i need. OEM seems to be about 1 1/4"

Throttle cable for the tpi should be here this week....plus i hooked up the oem fuel rail, just have to find a regulator and pressure gauge

They work really well, if you have headers, since the spark plug wires feed thru the covers and directly at the spark plugs
Cost about 150.00
