Great idea on the "LS swap kit"

I have an a/c compressor to engine bracket if you'd like. PM me your address and I can get it out to you tomorrow or thursday. Consider it a donation.

I also have a 5.3 Tahoe intake, it has the bigger injectors as it was a flex fuel tahoe. That I would be willing to sell for cheap if you need another one.

Adam - Flippin' awesome man! I'll shoot you a PM when I finish this post, many many thanks! :metal:

Well, I bought a couple more domain names today: lsswapkit.com and gen3swap.com. I'll probably just leave them parked until this fall or winter, whenever I have a good design or two ready to go. I'll probably use the lsswapkit.com as the main site, and just have the other redirect back to it.

Count me in, too. I need to get mine shortened first, but I think an LS swap is in my future, too.

Man what all us canucks would do for nice sheetmetal like the rear wheel wells on that chopped up burb. I had to use a long bed and shortbed to repair mine and I still had to fab up patch panels.

I got the intake out tonight. I will get a shipping quote tomorrow and send it your way.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

Are you going to build some headers for the swap kit too?

3/8" flanges at the head, ball & socket at the collector, 4-2-1 tri-Y routing style if possible with 16-gauge tubing and 1-3/4" pipes for a reasonable price. That's not too much to ask for.

Equal length primaries is another story.

:haha: You a funny guy!

LOL, but I actually have been tossing around the idea of headers, I'm just not sure how to go about having them mass produce. Well, I do know how, just not sure how. Confused yet?

Maybe just modifying a set of F-body long tubes so they are a better fit and adding on the ball & socket collector while you are at it.

Thanks for the kind words Gerald!!

Bob, I may have a bunch of questions to ask you very soon. I got a great deal on a 2007 6.0 and I am going to shoot to install it around next spring/summer. It's just a longblock so I will be assembling parts over the winter to get it ready. I have done a good deal of research on these swaps over the last few years but may need some quality advice from you. I will keep you posted, probably via PM.

If you don't already have a place to host these let me know. I have a couple of servers and depending on your needs I can host them for free for you. Just shoot me a pm if you are interested.

You know, first you get a lot of money.... Then you build a big factory and pay all of your workers lots of money......... Then to raise profits you close your factory and send all the work to Mexico.

Ask away, either here or a PM. If you can, post them here, then the info is getting out to the masses! BTW, the bracket got here yesterday!!! Thanks again, and sorry I'm just now popping up to say thanks. Been taking some lessons trying to knock a few (OK, a bunch) of strokes off of my golf game!

Hmmm, I have most of that covered, except the Mexico part. But my guys in the shop here work with an average material thickness of 1/2". I wonder if the even remember how to weld something as thin as header tubes? :haha:

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

sir, how did you set up both gas tank fuel sending units? I read what fuel pump u used but could not figure out where u placed it? Thanks.

glock35ipsc 10-02-2010 10:15 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

My truck has factory dual tanks, so that solved part of the issue. The other thing about my truck is the PO swapped in a complete TBI setup from an 87, and in doing so replaced every wiring harness throughout the truck with those from the 87.

The 87's, having the TBI, have electric fuel pumps that are in the tank. So all I had to do was replace the pumps with ones capable of supplying the GenIII psi needs.

So whether you have one tank or two, you will need to get sending units from an 87 pickup, and the ACDelco EP381 pump(s). The fuel pumps attach to the sending unit and drop into the tank.

You have two choices on the tanks..... the original tanks will work fine, but they lack the sump that the 87 tanks have. The fuel pump sits in the sump to keep it from losing fuel on hard stops and corners. Your original tank will work, but at or below 1/4 tank, you might find the engine dieing from hard stops or corners.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

You've got fuel pumps in the tanks, right? Do both pumps stay running all the time when the key is on or does only the pump for the tank that's selected run? Don't know if this has been asked or not, but I've been thinking about a fuel injection swap in mine and this problem/question has come up in my mind.

menace121978 10-22-2010 11:10 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

just the selected tanks pump runs when the key is on. just 1 at a time;)

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

Ahh cool, thanks.
Any extra wiring required between the switch and tanks when going from mech. to electric fuel pumps?
