Rewired my tach on Crustine. Now it doesn't bounce all the time(loose ground) and when I turn my head lights on the tach light comes on. :metal:

Didn't do a ton but I put fluid into the rear end, finished connected the steering shaft to the power box, put the wheels and tires on and installed the new battery tray.

After almost 2 years I uncovered it today. I hope to get back at it full tilt. It's been a 4+ year project already. Where does the time go? My sons got there license and all their projects took priority. I have a GM 427 and a Tremec 600 ready to go in it. Just uncovering it sure was a motivator.

Turtleman,
Where did you get that sway bar? Off a Suburban maybe? Also, is your truck lowered? I'm looking for the same thing. My sway bar has the linkage rod and bracket and I'd rather have the setup you have.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

The Bar I got off e-bay, it was told that it came off a 79 3/4 ton... It had all the brackets so it was just a matter of drilling a couple mounting holes and bolt on.. The truck is Not lowered but I did replace the upper and lower arms and all suspension links off of a 87 C-10.. (I'll never do that again)..

I guess I'll look for a 3/4 ton bar then. Thanks for the info. The sway bar looks good. I will also be installing a third generation Camaro rear sway bar on my rear. It's a pretty neat swap with the bar sitting over the axle instead of linked to the rear control arms.

Wired in some relays for the headlights. After I put a NEW alternator in, and its charging properly the headlights would flash from too much current through the harness and switch....Hopefully now they wont start flashing after 20-30 minutes!!!

took it back to the alignment shop and replaced the idler arm and he working on my alignment again trying to get it to settle in nicer at highway speeds so now we have this...

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

now the truck drives perfect at all speeds right up to 80-85 it just settled right in with almost no effort or adjustment needed. I didn't want to push it faster just to be safe but it showed no signs of wobble or shimmy or shake totally rattle free I was so happy almost got misty when i noticed driving along easy at 35-40mph i can feel and hear a rubbing noise from the front end. is that what happens when you adjust it too far? Do i need to adjust it back some lil it stops rubbing not sure what is rubbing yet haven't had time to look deeper into it. I was thing of changing the upper control arms with the tubular ones from brothers

good idea or no?

I got 5 lug disc brakes on the front. Replaced ball joints while doing the 2.5" drop spindle. That was fun. Now will be turning towards engine and transmission.

Cleaned and partially dismantled the 350 in prep for painting, but cold weather and a non-insulated garage don't lend towards painting...

The new set of wheels I ordered arrived, so I bought some tires and put them on. The wheels are Cragar Delux 69, 15x7 front and 15x8 rear, with bullet center caps and lug nuts. The tires are Hankook Optimo H274, which seem to be the most affordable white walls I could find. Rears are 235/75R15 and fronts are 215/75R15. I would've liked the whitewalls to be thicker than the inch or so these are, but I didn't want to pay for Coker or Diamondbacks.

Also pictured is the cleaned up and painted swaybar I pulled from a 77 C20, ready to install next weekend.

Not pictured is the solid state external regulator I swapped out for the mechanical one. Voltage meter reads a solid 14 V while running now!

Got the last of the parts from the painter. Bed strips and wheel tubs! The painter did such a great job removing the dents out of the tubs and sandblasting them they look new. The semi-gloss black paint looks like EDP coating, he also undercoated them as well. The bed strips were new from Mar-K, he painted both sides.
