Link to July 4th BBQ : http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=673515
I'll be having a bbq at our place on July 4th and am inviting any members that would like to attend. You are welcome to come over anytime after 12. Food will kick off around 3-4pm and we will be doing a bonfire later in the evening for those that choose to hang out that long. We have several locals coming over from several counties with trucks from multiple years. If your trucks up and running please bring it with you. If not, please don't let it stop you from coming. And all classic cars/trucks are welcome. Bring the family or a guest if you'd like. We will supply the bbq and sodas, ice/cups/coolers for drinks. We do ask that you bring your own beer and chairs with you. If you'd like to bring a dish, bag of chips or a dessert you are most welcome too. I have two acres, so plenty of room to park. Please PM me for directions and post to the regional thread (link above) to let me know who is coming and how many people coming with you. And please ask any questions. I am in Fayetteville, NC, only 10 minutes off I-95. I will have more updates as they come. Hope to see you there. |

Got the stainless brake lines run this weekend. A lot of adjustments on the pre bent kit, but was able to get it all to work. Went ahead and DEI wrapped all the lines close to the headers just to be sure the fluid doesn't get to hot. The ceramic coated headers are supposed to help retain heat inside the exhaust and not out, so we should be good.
Did have to go get fittings from the calipers to the front lines and had to order a 3/8" - 3AN fitting to go from the front to rear line to the soft line that goes over the rear diff. (fitting should be in this week). Should be able to pressurize and bleed this system this week, and will do the clutch at the same time. |

Also got all the fuel / coolant fittings snugged up. Started to fill coolant sytem...ran out of antifreeze, so I have 4 gallons in the system. Will finish topping off tonight. Was near 100* yesterday and just didn't feel like driving to the parts store.
Also go the air cleaner installed. Plenty of clearance on the 5" K&N. And lastly started the final polish on the old Edelbrock valve covers I started a year or so ago. Will have this project done this week also. Will try and get the engine bay cleaned up this week now that hoods back on and most of my engine bay projects are done. |

Hood bumpers, all the big parts companies have them. I tend to use Classic Industries, Truck shop of Ca or Brothers for most things. But LMC & Classic parts carry them also. The back ones are held in w/rivets. The fronts just have a phillips screw in them. |

Thank you. :)

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
No problem. These are all original and I don't see the need to replace them as the condition is fine. I need to remove the 2 front ones and clean up the liner that oversprayed on them, but its a smaller project for a rainy day.

And almost forgot my last weekend project. While doing all the finish work under the hood, the accelerator linkage bracket was a tad long and just barely hitting the back of the head, so I trimmed it down an inch, went to the lower hole on the v8 bracket and ordered a heim joint to fix the shortened length. Heim joint will be here wed/thurs per shipping.

No I underlined the bottom of the hood on purpose and correct, not how the factory did it. I meant to remove the rubber mounts and forgot. No biggie....its an easy fix. Also...no dice on the breather rebuild. Was a breather destroy job. Any leads on a twist in OEM AC breather? |

I do wish I had laid the whole thing out 1st and made sure I had all the fittings I needed. Have had the kits for almost two years and waiting until I installed wasn't the time to realize the adapters for the lines - calipers weren't there didn't help any. |

101* yesterday......had to fix a brake light issue on the wifes truck, then on to mine.
Got up to advanced auto and got a 48" v belt. Belt installed. 6.5gal coolant filled her up, let her sit overnight and no leaks on the static check. Pressure check will have to be at start up. Will have some extra hand son deck when we get to that part. Started to do some engine bay clean up. Should have paint starting on last valve cover tonight and I'll get the spark plug wires on tonight also. Once valve covers are on I can get the breathers and pcv valve in. Need to run vacuum to the gauge also...... Will get brakes bled ASAP once last fitting arrives. Had to order a 3/8" - 3an for the frame to over axle line. Couldn't locate any locally, so summit to the rescue. Harness should be mailed in 2-3 days per American autowire and then ready to prime and fire up. So pretty much down to small things for this week and waiting on parts...... |
