Started to inventory the stuff on the trailer I picked up from an old hardware store. 25 type set boxes a US postal sorting bin from the local post office still has the peoples names on it . I also got lots of old boxes and new metal gas cans . And just a bunch of other odds and ends .

First three are of the base table top and sorting cabinet. Very rear to find all three . Tag is dated 1951

Nice score! You can get some fair money for the printer's drawers. Just steam clean them and list them on etsy.

I got all set up to make trim for a job. The sun was hot so I set up the canopy. Thunderstorms were predicted and I almost got it all made up before the few drops of rain began as I stashed the last pieces into a building. Then, did it rain?? It rained harder and harder. I had ducked into the building the trim went into. I don't know how long it rained like that. Less than an hour I'm sure. The rain gauge read 2" when the rain let up

I love that Suburban. And everything is so green. You don't see that around here. It's only supposed to be 98 degrees today. So it's cooling down. :)

I held the door open for a lady at the gas station yesterday and the door handle about burned my fingers off. But she was nice looking and she smiled. So it was worth it. Who needs fingers.

We haven't had measurable rain here in over a month but last night a line of thunderstorms came through here after midnight. All I heard was the wind. We got very little rain but plenty of wind. I spent much of my morning picking up limbs, again, and added them to the burn pile.
Of course, we are under a burn ban.

Getting so damned hot here the upstairs A/C compressor is struggling, during the heat of theand can't make 74 F. Holds at around 78F trying to get there. So, I have zip tied a soaker hose over both compressors. The fans throw the water on the fins. Keeps the fins cool which keeps the freon cooler which make the whole system run less.

We run the soaker from about 1:00 - 6:00ish...around the time the neighbor's house throw shade on the units.

Of, course now...I have to attack the new skeeter population.

Naturally...Iphone pics are sideways.

Good idea but I would think most of the water would be blown up and away with the fans . I would think those little mist hoses like they use on patios around the outside would be more efficient.

Yeah, no shortage of green here. That's one thing great about that Suburban. I was able to stuff the two 1 x 8 x 12 footers in and slam the hatch to keep them dry. The storm passed and I was able to finish up. That was Saturday. Yesterday I got it all out, sanded, primed, and let it dry. Put it all back inside just before the thunderstorm.

Now today I got it all out and sanded it. More worried about earlier thunderstorms and now it's the pretty paint. I set it up to take directly inside on racks. And it did already come thundering through here a while back and still thundering. It's about time to fire up the grille.

Yep...that may be more water efficient. I will certainly look into that next year. Thanks for the idea.

This year our "Hot" months are about a month ahead of average. May had June weather. June had July weather and now all of July is averaging August weather...if not higher.

We've got nothing but dirt and some very tough trees here that manage to survive. My wife wants to grow vegetables. Yeah right. They won't grow here. I put some fake plants out at the end of the driveway. They look real. We'll see how long they last in this climate. I'd take a picture but it's just too dang hot outside.

Paid bills today. Ugh! My electric bill was $287 and I wasn't even here for 2 weeks and I still get my 25% employee discount. I can't imagine what it would have been. i guess I'll find out next month because I'm back and the air is running.

My wife bought a bucket of KFC chicken...42 bucks.

I spent the last three days digging a 3' diameter hole, 3' deep for a new tree in the front yard. Several inches of imported topsoil, then native soil, then several inches of hardpan that took a diggin' bar to break up. Halfway down I found two old iron (or steel?) 4" water pipes running through the center of the new hole. Had to wait for the water company to verify they were abandoned. Took 'em out this morning with a sawzall. Hope to plant the tree tomorrow.

As a matter of fact it was an 8 piece. No joke. I about fell out of my chair when my wife told me how much it was.

But it was some pretty darn good fried chicken. I don't know about 42 bucks good, but it was good.

KFC is very much hit and miss depending on which location that you go to. The one in Ridgecrest is delicious. Just like I remember as a kid. The one in Santa Fe Springs was awful. They turned that one into a Taco Bell which wasn't any better.

And if you ever find yourself in Victorville California DO NOT eat at the McDonalds there. That's not a good one.

Yep, I know. A telecom career, much of it in outside construction, taught me that (and maybe a few other things). This time though, I was hand-digging.... in my own yard.... I know exactly where my water & sewer lines are.... power, phone, & catv are overhead.... & we have no gas lines. When I found the abandoned pipes, I called water & sewer to check 'em just to be 100% sure. :)

Oh man, our 8 pc is currently about $38+ and is some of the worst restaurant served fried chicken we've ever had. We stayed away from our kfc for 3 years or so because the place was so run down and nasty. Well no one else in town had good chicken so we tried kfc again and was so disappointed. I tossed half of it in the can. I swear I believe they refried it it was so dark. Chester's chicken at a fuel stop is better than our kfc.

The funny thing about the high prices is I buy less. I'll see the price of something and pass on it. That equals less sales for the merchant. It makes no sense. They aren't making any money if no one buys anything and I can't be the only one saying no way.

I avoid driving. Especially my big truck. It's like a mortgage payment to fill that beast up. So it sits. I drive my little Porsche which doesn't get great mileage either. But it's the best I've got. You'd be surprised how much stuff I can fit in that little car.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Chester's is good. And they have gizzards. And I love me some gizzards. :)

Bad KFC is just that. Bad. It's worse than drinking champagne out of a smelly shoe.

But if you can possibly find one that still does it right then you just hit the jackpot. They are few and far between but they still do exist.

But it's still going to cost you 42 bucks. (That's what she said) :(

Back in the mid 80's I was working construction in Kansas City and there was this old, converted gas station on the Kansas side that sold chicken, it was called "Go Chicken Go" and they had fried gizzards to die for.

When I was young no one wanted them but me. I had them all to myself. Then I got married and my brother in law liked them as much as I did. I wasn't the only game in town anymore. The gizzard battle was on!

Now... My wife loves them. But there's no battle over them. I immediately surrender. I might be dumb but I'm not that dumb.

Safeway was doing 8pcs for $5 on Mondays for a long time. They've inched it up to $7-$8 and it doesn't taste as good as when it was so cheap.

Vons has some good fried chicken for much less than the Coronel. But it's not KFC and they don't always have it.

Gotta get out of town again today. Edison is cutting off the power again. I believe that this is about the 5th time in the last couple months. It's only going to be over 100 degrees today so it seems like perfect timing to cut off everyone's power in July in the desert. Good thinking.

I feel for the old people that have to sit in a sweatbox and the guys on the poles with all their gear on.

It's good to know they're working on it. Don't worry, you won't be charged for the electricity you couldn't use today.

I don't like to eat fried chicken very often. I like fixing it even less. But when I do it sure is good!!

We have three supermarkets in town, Safeway/National, Food Lion/Southern (NC), and Weis/Northern (PA). They all have good fried chicken. We have two regional convenience stores that started out as urban dairy stores, High's Dairy/Wash,DC and Royal Farms/Balto,MD. They both have really great fried chicken. But nothing beats Baugher's! Just a short country drive away.

Baugher's looks good. I'll have to look it up. I have to go to Carlisle to clear out my brothers place. So I'll be in that neck of the woods. I've been putting it off. Too depressing.

Power went out at 7:50 today. So I left. Drove down the hill and there must have been at least 10 trucks and a bunch of guys standing around doing absolutely nothing. I should have known. I used to be one of those guys.

Reminds me of the road crew that realized that they had forgotten their implements back at the shop. They called the engineer to bring them out, and he told them to lean on each other until he got there. I've done plenty of leaning on shovels, myself.

I’ve come to the realization that I have too many vehicles. I finally got time to bleed the brakes an the 62 and looked at the tires 32 week 2005 . They look good but I’m buying new tires for it . The inspection expired October 2018 . I drove the Hawk last fall so it’s ok everything new on that . The Avanti the inspection expired September 2015 tires from 2010 I have driven that around the block every couple of months . The AMX hasn’t moved in 12 years needs brakes. Always seems something else is a priority . I’m going to take stock of what I want to keep and get rid of all the rest .

I know exactly where you are at. I have way too many cars too. It gets to be a burden just trying to keep up on them. But every time I say I'm going to sell one I just can't do it.

You have a very nice collection. I would have a real struggle to cut one loose.

I've sold a couple of my cars. I wasn't happy about it. But they went to better homes. I just couldn't keep up with them. But it still bothers me.

Paul we're knocking on wood 'round here as we've not had any power outages this summer, so far. The tree trimming crews are working all over town. They cut one side of one of my trees plum off. Looks stupid but I told the wife, if it keeps our power from going out, I'm ok with it.
We're over 100* every day for a week. There's not much grass to cut now.
Mark I don't know how you could decide which ones to cut loose and which ones to keep. For me, it would be hard to justify tags, taxes and insurance for all those just sitting there unused. Maybe it is time to let someone else enjoy them.
