https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1832/...85d92c94_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/28LEqVW]20180806_113844 Started to work on the FAST harnesses again, while some of the leads need to be used, not all of the XIM, the harness leads for the XFI are used while some of the XIM are duplicated( such as the MAP), but there may be more, as I hook this up 1 of the leads that are coming out of the XFI harness is for the crank sensor, that I won't be using, was told by FAST to just ignore or cut off, since my XIM harness has the leads for crank and cam sensors from my EFI parts, I've changed the connections so I can plug in directly to the 2 sensors Now to hole saw(1 1/4") into my firewall, going to slice grommet and super glue back together, don't feel like depinning all the connecters to get it through grommet Connections I am working on now; DS and PS coil driver Cam/ hall effects Cam and Crank sensors ground(-) |
Re: PO has me PO'd
With all the time and effort you're spending on this, that harness from FAST is cheap looking. Consider replacing that convoluted tubing with some braided sleeving from Wirecare Just a thought.

Re: PO has me PO'd
This is where it can be confusing, as the connectors look the same, but, there is a notch on the left one at the top and will not let them connect
I use my hemastats to keep the locking tabs from reengaging as you pry off on side https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1939/...7e693741_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/2cAMx5k]20181102_113902 https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4838/...9b0e929d_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/2bd3ceZ]20181102_120842 you can see better the notch I am referring to in this pic These are the cam and crank senser connectors Started to install some of the wire care wrap, but didn't use tape to finish yet. I guess AJ was right, doesn't look as cheap |

Re: PO has me PO'd
OK EPIC fail, plan B
went down to wires before it would pass thru grommet https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4819/...42e0ac99_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/2bkwHdP]20181107_102902 |
Re: PO has me PO'd
That rubber inside the grommet will stretch. It's a bear, but it will. I have two of those on the truck, one for the FAST wiring and another for misc stuff. The second one has over an inch of wiring thru it, wrapped in braided sleeve. Getting the 4L80 harness and plug thru it was a nightmare...until I got creative.
Here's what I did.... I took a transmission funnel (lubed with lithium grease) and gradually ran it thru the grommet to open it up. Think speculum. Then cut the end of the funnel off and passed everything thru. Pulled the funnel back out and cut it off the harness. |

With my skills of rod tying and fly tying, I may have found a way to keep the skrunky sound out my shielding, wraping thread around it seems to keep it aligned, we'll see as I keep working on it https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4809/...d40c4ac1_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/2cVQW1R]20181115_163755 It seems that If you twist the shielding, it will allow it to lay better...follow the white tracer |

still scrunky, used 3/4" wire care and it slips under corrugated , with bushing taped in. Marked with paint stick to keep it aligned. Now has support |

Re: PO has me PO'd
Zicc, thanks for the interest, but I may get my oil pan back up first, since the oil has drained out of the engine, I want to prime it back up thru the new oil filter and lines I installed, see what the gauge reads, and then rotate crank shaft, it seems a bit solid. Maybe put something down the bores
