That looks fantastic Vernski. Is that a prefab seat cover or did you get it done somewhere locally? Also have you decided on an exterior color yet?

Hi Markb01 I had it done in Post Falls at Highlands Upolustry for $200 I couldn't find one to put on myself much cheaper and he put new padding in it. His phone# is 208-773-0104 and works out of his garage with his wife helping him. He does good work as you can see in the pics. On the paint I'm leaning toward the two tone color it was as I have all the door chrome for it. I think this was a dealer repaint cause I can't find a green apple green anywhere in the GMC color chips. My first thought was to satin two tone it but some times I think gloss would be the way to go, The original color by the way was dark green metalic I found underneath the cowl corners & hood...Vernski:gmc2:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

They did a real nice job on that seat. When I had a bench seat I bought an upholstery kit from Seatz and it was beautiful and well made. It’s nice to be able to find that kind of talent locally. I may see about having him make some diamond pattern covers for my buckets. I’ve thought about doing them in genuine diamond tufting, but my bad back is so particular I’m not sure they would remain as comfortable as just putting on diamond styled covers.

I’ve always preferred gloss paint myself. If I had not painted my entire disassembled truck with lacquer 10 years earlier, I would have repainted it gloss black instead of blitz black when I reshot it two years ago. But all the lacquer had to come off to apply urethane, and since I had just lost my job, the choice came down to a $200 enamel paint job - or none at all!

FYI check with your local PPg paint dealer, my basecoat only costs $127.00 per gallon, and the polyurethane clear is $70.00 per gal.....not much more than dupont enamel.......Kieth oops forgot about the reducer and hardner another $125.00

I'm going to give it a good power wash before that, though, and get rid of some of the gunk. This is the first time the truck has been out of the garage in 5 years.
That stock rear end is really up there. 5" drop on the way and maybe a 1" block.

Wow beautiful truck man.

First, thanks Delmo, I got pretty lucky with this find. I'm a big fan of your work.
I got all of the bed strips and supports off today. Ready to pull the bed off when I can round up a few friends. I also power washed the frame when I was done but I don't have pics of the post wash yet. Waiting for the wife to have her garage sale so I can have my garage back and start disassembly of the rear suspension.

Replaced the modulator valve on the transmission .. I pulled the hose and it was not adjustable , so I bought a new one ... after a few test drives to get it set right it shifts nice and firm , not like a mushroom...

I threw away this POS EZ power steering adapter I bought because it didn't even have the right bolt patter for the P/S box I was using nor did the bolt holes line up on any of the 11 P/S boxes I checked in the wrecking yard. I should have bought one from Captain Fab... :hh:
I am just going to find a 69-72 lwb frame to use on my build.... changing the frame horns and rear cab brackets must be easier that playing games trying to put P/S on my 66... :waah:

I'm running baby! Just gotta bleed the brakes to help the mushy pedal. I haven't driven my truck since last July. Next weekend is my 13th wedding anniversary, and my wife I went on our honeymoon in my truck! It will be cool as usual to be out and bout on our anniversary in the truck.

It was good to just sit there and listen to the cam thump and bump!

Just tell her you bought the frame and they threw in the rest of the truck for free.:metal: Nice score.

That is actually the truth. I can't complain about getting close to a whole truck for $100. My wife took it pretty well. My daughters reaction was priceless, she crossed her arms, put the scowl I on her face expected from my wife and just said "Oh daddy", turned and walked away to tell mommy what she thought of it. Other than that, and my white dog walking under it in the garage and coming out with a gear oil stripe on her back from the tranny, it's gone fairly well. This is the truck that Jerry Moss was selling parts off of. He still has a few other parts. He is into the 67-72's and wanted it out of there. I am happy to oblige.

Pulled the rear end out of a 69 LWB at the local pick n pull yard to replace the rear end in my 66 LWB that is about to go. Now praying this new rear end, I mean used, doesn't howl like the old one.

I remember that look when I told her about buying my son's '69 project truck. But the deal we made is she can keep her mustang and I keep the two old trucks. The only set back is her car can be driven anywhere and the only time the trucks move is with the help of my trailer.

I bought this truck about a month ago and I finally got the old stuff cut off and finished the ECE 4-6 drop kit on the back. Hopefully the front will go a little smoother. I'm putting the disc brake upgrade on the front with drop spindles. Here a few photos.

i think it will bolt up, i may have to drill a hole or two. called a couple places today about the chrome. no luck yet. also i still need one headlight bezel, the passenger side was rusted out. if its too much coin to chrome powder coating may be an option. thats what i did to my 66 grill.
