Raining here today, (finally) so I decided to bake some Chocolate Waffle Cookies. This was my moms recipe and waffle iron and she has been gone for close to 20 years. A good way to remember her....

Wife and I also baked a Custard Pie. She makes the crust and I make the filling. Anyone else remember their mom or Grandma baking the left over crust with sugar and cinnamon on it? Yummy!

I never thought to make cookies with a waffle maker. But those cookies look pretty darn good. And that pie is speaking to me.

These cookies are really easy and quick to make. I would be glad to post the recipe if anyone is interested. The pie is half gone already.... :)
-----------------------------------
Chocolate Waffle Cookies

1 1/2 C. Sugar
1 C. Butter
(Blend the first two ingredients)

Add:
4 Eggs, one at a time
1/2 C. Cocoa
2 tsp Vanilla
2 C. Flour
Pinch salt

Bake one minute in waffle iron on med. high heat.
(you may have to adjust this a little depending on your waffle iron)

I remove them from the waffle iron by sticking a fork into the edge of them.

Eat plain or frost with white or choc. powdered sugar frosting.

I would like to make them. :) But that means I'd have to find my waffle maker.

I have so darned many kitchen gadgets that it's a scavenger hunt to find one when I need it. It takes me longer to find what I need than to actually cook.

Where did I put that thing???

I'd like the recipe for the waffle iron cookies....my grandkids would love those!

We have one of those very old, heat on the stove, waffle irons up at the cabin and these would be perfect on a cool fall day.

Here in Safford we have had rain like crazy for the last 6 weeks. Weeds are growing, like weeds.

Went to a car/air/balloon/drone show yesterday

Car show ok, no pics. Air show was small but got to see three of my fav WWll planes.

Balloon glow was sorta cancelled, too windy to inflate balloons I guess so the sat in their baskets and hit the burners for a burner show = lame. Didn’t stay for the drone light show, may have been canceled too?

A few pics of the planes. Really hard to take decent pics with my phone. Tried to crop extra junk out of the pics.

Great photos Mark.. I like war planes too. We have the Warhawk Musium here at our Nampa airport and every once in awhile I get to see world 11 Bombers making their turn just almost at our house low in the sky. They have rides for people on some of them big war planes

It's funny. I've never been a breakfast guy. My go to breakfast was a cheeseburger. I got some weird looks. What can I say? I like cheeseburgers and a Pepsi. I don't care what time it is.

But I'll eat scrambled eggs and sausage at midnight. I guess my clock is a little off.

Well, today I went and did it again. I bid five bucks over the minimum bid just for S&G's and nobody bid against me. I won.

So now I have two Baja's. Except this one runs. I really just bought it for the motor for my 63. But now I'm thinking maybe not. Maybe just have fun with it. WTH I live in the desert.

I'm not crazy about the color. It's not green. It's GREEN!!!!! Looks like a frog.

Even old VW's are pulling in money now. But those 356's are way up there. I got this Bug for a good price. I wasn't even serious when I bid. I just waited to get outbid. I was shocked when I didn't. :metal:

I don't know if anyone could ever accuse me of living right.

My wife is the one that gets the deals. Except when she married me. That wasn't such a great deal. She messed up there.

Donated our old lawn tractor . Kid pulled up and asked about it a few days ago . Said he wanted it put would need to see if he could swing the cash . I have seen him mowing lawns around town with a funky push mower . He also works at the Stewart’s gas station . Asked a few people around town seems the kid works and does the side hustle of lawns all to pay for community college by himself . So I asked him if he wanted the mower he said ya but he couldn’t afford it . So I told him it was his and come pick it up . He was ecstatic and came by with his old beat up s10 and we loaded it .

I'm glad you did that, Mark. That was a great idea.

I went to see my mom last weekend. There is this ultra cheap food store she likes to go to. They sell overstock, damaged packages, etc... really cheap. here I am a healthy man with his 92 year old mom and when she broke out her checkbook this elderly man, not much younger than her, told her "Don't write that check". He said the Lord told him to pay for it, he broke out fifty and a couple bucks cash, and paid. Told the cashier gal to keep the change. My mom was deeply struck, said she got goosebumps. It struck me, too.

That looks like fun!

I like the Corvair in the back of the one pic. Since the Corvair thread I've kind of got the itch to get one. (again)

An old guy up here was selling one just down the street from me for $300. Great deal. Only problem is that I wasn't up here at the moment. I was in Los Angeles. It was gone by the time I got here.

I remember in high school a classmate had a black Corvair Monza Spyder I believe it was with thin white walls and wire wheel covers w/spinners and chrome tips on the exhaust pipes. Had that larger engine. Man, that was a sharp car.

Nice wagon and Yes, All very nice. Can't wait for the fall weather to get out to a few show-n-shines around here, right now it's entirely too damned hot, plus almond harvest is in full swing, so we have dust everywhere...and allergies!

That orange paint on that 67 really jumps out at you!

I've never had one either had one either. But I always wanted one.

I guess it's in my blood. When I was a kid there was a neighbor that had 2 of them. A 66 coupe and a 64 Spyder convertible with the turbo. I just thought that they were cool as all get out.

The coupe was yellow. We called it the "Cheese Vair'

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Speaking of Corvairs... Waldo Davis. that man inspired me into auto restorations. A friend's dad, ole waldo was always out in the garage shop or in the driveway tinkering with his Corvairs. This was before they were antique but AACA voted them in as classics due to their otherwise historic value. Every nut and bolt on down to the stencil and crayon markings, absolute detail. Richard, my friend, had a Spyder convertible. I kept up with Waldo after Richard moved to Florida. I was 20 when I bought a '66 VW Bus. He let me pull an 85hp from one of his parts cars and have it. I feel bad I never did do that swap after he did that for me. I always wanted a Corvair-powered VW camper
