Re: What did you do to your truck today?

lets see! I sanded the crap out of my truck cab for the past 3 weeks stripping it down to bare metal. I finally got some epoxy primer on it today. And it revealed alot more then I thought I had to do. Lots of rough spots, and placed where I need to continue to sand, when does it all end? well at least I have primer on it before the first snow here in beautiful Indiana which will be soon. I guess I will spend the winter on the cab yeah

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Didn't do much to the truck other than getting to rear ready to pull. Took off the springs, e-brakes, brakes and loosened up the crossmember bolts to drop the trailing arms.

But I did add a sub-panel in my garage just so I can put a welder outlet in. I have a few other things to get done, but slow progress is still progress.

I see a PVC line with a ball valve.... you aren't using PVC for your air lines are you?

Steel and Chrome. :ito: Bought a whole 63 truck just to get the chrome grill. The guy had a painted black on the 63 and the chrome sitting in the cab. Wouldn't let go of just the grill, so for $500...... bought the whole truck minus a bed. My buddy s supposed to do something with the 63 truck.

Yeah I did. It is irrigation PVC, schedule 40. It has a 480 PSI rating. Put the compressor up in the rafters. Built a little platform with all the weight on the exterior wall, hooked it up to a switch and a dummy light. I took the drain valve out and connected some PVC to it with the ball valve, so all the condensation will sit in the pipe before it sits at the bottom of the compressor. I have a air outlet on the wall, outside, and at my work bench.

Nice wall art. Makes me wonder why I never hung up my 63 Grille.
I'll have to pull it down out of the attic tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Made a lease deal on a 30' X 40' shop on Friday. I didn't do much to the truck, but started getting ready to move from my 12' X 24' garage. I should get keys in the next couple of days.

On Saturday, I purchased a 64 Chevy C20 parts truck and hauled it to the new shop. Hauled the white 66 to the shop on Saturday as well. Currently, both are outside waiting for access.

Pics of all three trucks and the shop to come soon.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I started looking for it about 3-4 weeks ago.
Today I found a picture of I took of it back in 86.
I now have the the VIN by calling DMV with the Plate Number.

I'm now upping my search energy - I want to find it so bad:

Stop with the 63 grille talk, can't find my painted one I originally got with the truck. You'd think it would stand out!

I researched using PVC when I built my shop. Not preaching, but from what I have read it can be very dangerous. I feel obligated to forward this to you as you might want to read it:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent the day cutting, fitting and drilling the hole into the bed boards. Then used the router to lay out and inlay in the center of the 3rd boards in from the bedside. routed out a bow-tie emblem and inlayed walnut. Just have to sand them flush after dinner and coat the the natural stain. Then on to the coats of varnish.

well I actually did a little on it today. I got the fenders and other pieces out fromthe shed before old man winter comes in. I have decided to go to a ol school look patina style. So I put everything together and made sure I had all the right bolts and spacers. Just a bunch of nothing

About 75% done stripping the rear fenders and bed down to bare metal. At this point I hate to shoot primer on it, it looks cool with just it's birthday suit!
Would you guys think I was nuts if I just clear coated it? :dum:

Anybody got experience with Gibbs? http://www.roadsters.com/gibbs/
