Re: PO has me PO'd
Jim,
Are you talking about the screw that holds the handle on? I can pull one out later today and take a look (I think i still have one) Are you going with an in bed style tank or under body? I might be able to hook you up with some in bed hickey tanks if needed. Richard |

Re: PO has me PO'd
It's interesting to see the valve opened up. If that one doesn't work for any reason I think these are still available new and I recall seeing them for marine applications. I don't know the Hickey tank dimensions but FWIW I had a Blazer with a period correct 40 gallon tank, which I think can still be had.

My screw is 8-32 and about 1/2" long Phillips countersunk head like these https://www.mcmaster.com/91802a194 Here is a picture or 2 of the actual tanks I am talking about. I am not 100% he is ready to sell, nor price but I can ask him if you are interested and put you in contact . |

Just saw a 38 gallon go up for sale by CIblazer, not quite what I had in mind, looking to have a diamond plate one made up to fit in the area of my bulk head area. Thanks for the tip on buying a new one , if this one fails Man, you talk about a varnish build up, can you imagine what his carb. looks like |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Richard, thanks for the info. and link. pics sure help as now I know location to mount the valve.
Not sure yet on tanks, but if they are available I would consider them, if the price is right. Thank you for your time |
Re: PO has me PO'd
I'd change it if possible. I'll take the snow and cold over the crime in ABQ any day. It helps that I can start my daily driver from my phone - toasty when I climb in :)

Any way, got the valve apart, wasn't bad inside, the shaft may be worn https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7955b483_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/2hnC6sk]20190929_114126 these Q tips work great, but the carb cleaner, Is under high pressure, use PPE. If you hit a deadend this sh!t is coming back at you and it BURNS |

Re: PO has me PO'd
was at the shop today, installed radiator, stood back and looked at it. Not impressed with the routing of the hoses, or how I cobbled them together...
Update needed to resolve. ordered some SS pipe, clamps and sleeves. will have to wait for the pcs. to come in, worst part of a build is waiting on parts |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Picked up this little beauty on the partsboard, thanks Wayne G.,quality with/out reproach, and yes the valve functions as expected, even hits the detents as expected

Nice work! I was just thinking about how I was going to address the radiator hoses with the new LS and after seeing your setup, I'm inspired to do something similar. I just need to get a tig welder and start practicing. Being able to weld and make your own parts is awesome |
Re: PO has me PO'd
It does help to have a mandrel bent piece of Stainless Steel available from Vibrant, just cut to size
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...20ebc6f6_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/2hrBYnf]20191007_121102 Still not finished, seems the tensioner rod is in the way, so I have to add a couple of inches to the tube, and now waiting on NAPA to ship a new 6 groove belt from Indianapolis This mid mount altenater from March is starting to be a PITA. At least the power steering side is going back together easy, the tank I had made just has to find a home in the engine bay some where. The hydra boost system is plumbed, and seems to play well with all.... Thanks for the compliments, but I'm afraid that I may have led you to believe, I welded that up, when in fact I just took it to a welding shop. Can't take credit for some one else's skills |
Re: PO has me PO'd
seems to have worked out better then this, space was always a constraint, started by redoing radiator lower neck, to improve the angle for the lower hose, this helped alot, lower outlet was straight, by changing it, it had a much better angle away from the frame

Re: PO has me PO'd
On a side note, my son and I just bought a new welder, so I hope he has been using it as I plan to send all my welding up to him soon

Re: PO has me PO'd
Little side story...Going to the shore for my Mother-in-law's 95 th birthday. On the Atlantic city expressway, a Camaro passes me with a sweet sounding exhaust. I look at the wifey and "asked, do you want to catch him" she says why not" so I do . at some point around 100 she says to me "what in God's name was I thinking, when I said you could buy a Camaro with 426 HP" SS/RS
https://live.staticflickr.com/5716/2...1117199a_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/z2PGcC]WIN_20151001_100116 Yeah OK, so I'm not that gray haired old guy who does do the speed limit, my road, my rules |
