Still not rid of it.

Bit by bit Bill, but not much one can do except go at a sensible pace. Which I battle to do.

Ended up in bed for 6 days in the end with a viral infection.

Still coughing, a lot and uncontrollably but much better than before.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrkv4sgir.jpg

Snow......

Beast from the East they say.

Woke to this, this morning.

Outside kitchen thermometer showed -5’C early on. Warmed up later. Back there at 6pm tonight.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psooceqkne.jpg

When I headed out to a meeting at 10.00 after doing a load of admin, this was the status.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps36xi2ihr.jpg

Road outside my place, slippery.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psk3ycpbg0.jpg

Had to stop at Pepperhill for work, no snow when I went in, 15 minutes later........

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pskrloh9yx.jpg

Got home this afternoon and there had been a load more snow.

Harley, typically had to go out to inspect when I got in.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshzrltbtl.jpg

Prozac has not moved in over four weeks now.

Went to look at the snow down there.

Well, the weekend saw the first swap meet for me for the year.

Not as cold as some years,

Saw a load of the usual suspects and met up with mate Craig

Some random pics.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps0mqzz9ht.jpg

£40.00 for two, pressed steel.

Very tempted.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6f9nzwxg.jpg

Do love me some small stuff.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrfcfvwqp.jpg

After a good day, decided to leave by 3.00pm

Got flagged down by Mercedes Benz ML driver......

Had left his lights on.

Prozac to the rescue.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psejicggkh.jpg

My loot from the day, nothing I needed, but lots I wanted.

T-shirts were 3/£5.00

Glad to hear you are up and feeling better. I have to miss one of my favorite swap meets this year, but I'm ok with it since the reason is for one of my kids.

40 British Pounds is like 55.86 US Dollars. I bet I could make a few dollars on some of the old tractor seats I have laying around the farm.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Not had much to report lately.

I have a lodger moving out, and a contractor moving in for another 17 weeks,so should be eating.

Speaking of eating....

The cats have been loading up lately.
Dave the lodger got a nice pic of old man Dukey.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdebktbve.jpg

Spent the day two weeks ago with my mate Kevin, sorting out his sons house as he is traveling around Peru on a bike for a few months. Jealous? Me?
Never.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmk2q9nu4.jpg

Came home that evening and got a call from Mate Ricky who bought the Chrome smoothies off my truck a few years ago. He had left a gift for me under a rock.
Some pen knives for my collection.

Favourite amongst them, was this little guy.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps10bvrrys.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pscwxcbumx.jpg

Spent Sunday with a friend to see her dogs and put up the butterfly wall hanging I made for her from scrap off Darren’s pile during December break.
I also fitted a new dog tunnel and doors for her followed by a kebab and bottle of wine. 9 hrs well spent.

Prozac did the transport honours, continuing to put that silly grin on my face.

She reminded me of one of my random likes.... Bad Taste Bears.

I have one in my car too.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psa693giyi.jpg

Wall hanging up.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdmt359ga.jpg

Headed into London last Thursday I saw this train at Strood station too.......

Just who names trains??

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psa0etuqpm.jpg

Lastly, after all the rubbish weather.

I cut my grass for the first time this year.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psuzt1btng.jpg

Summer is headed here.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvttnudzy.jpg

Hope to find my way back into the garage after a not insignificant hiatus.

Have a good weekend all.

If you Google the Bad Taste Bears you will see that my snake is very tame.

Was chatting to Dennis last weekend, keeping in mind we chat daily by text or video.

He was up at 03.00 US time and headed out by 08.00 to look at a one owner GMC Cabalero pickup.

V8 Full luxury pack with camper top (canopy to the rest of the world) and purportedly only done 31000 miles.

Pics he was sent.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszsju3ztg.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdlyzthxz.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psgct3r4yj.jpg

He messaged me later in the day to say that he bought it, drove it home and loves it.

Drives like a new car.

These certainly are marmite cars, and Dennis likes Marmite.

Interior, plush.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psm0ezzhxj.jpg

Camper body in place, but needs to come off, as well as the spoked hubcaps and wheels.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszzkkpoxq.jpg

But where to put it?

Next to the race car chassis in the roof I guess.

Everywhere else is a bit full.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psohkoqqr9.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psk92uaxno.jpg

Back home straight into the shop and a full service so that he knows it is on a current timescale.

Turns out the mileage is 131000 miles, which is still not a lot for the 305ci or is it 308ci motor the truck has, after one careful owner from new.

Found behind the seat.......

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psaydigxdl.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psp4nmvh7n.jpg

Next up will be a new interior carpet and some refurbished Rallye wheels and trims with wide tyres.

And if I ask really nicely, I may get to drive it the next time I am there.............

Some random stuff, but I know many guys on here like the random stuff too.

After a long, cold, snow filled winter, it seems the season has started to turn.

Walking up to the farm always clears my mind, and usually I stand or sit and stare over the Thames river to Essex for a while too.

Sunday was also my first Bootfair of the year.

Spent some money there too.

More later.

Grizz1963 04-19-2018 03:28 AM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Well, the Leatherman tool cleaned up nicely, as expected.

Just need to find its rightful owner to return it.

I love my knives, so know what it would feel like to lose one.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjwgsjkz3.jpg

First bootfair had loads of good stuff, and some rubbish.

Some of you may know, that I used to collect old smoking pipes and ended up with a collection of over 200, when Nicola left, she took some of her favourites.
Bootfair used to throw some up from time to time, and though I did not buy any on this occasion, Sunday threw up the mother lode of all with these all at one sellers table, she is a canny market trader and her prices, though fair, was more than I wanted to spend.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psuqj37wec.jpg

My purchases included these items, and a couple of scarves for Nicola, yes we are still friends ana do stuff for each other.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjmb7zmif.jpg

All of these bits incl 32mm spanner were £5.50 which is my kind of pricing.

The small pipe vies is great for square tubing as well.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4iv3nmuw.jpg

Back to Dennis and the new GMC truck.

He found all of these wheels and trims plus caps in 14” size, to keep the look more traditional.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssc6zxxjd.jpg

Cleaned and painted Silver yesterday, owning a body shop and suffering from insomnia helps get stuff done.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pss2japabl.jpg

Last nights dinner........

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pstjknbcgh.jpg

Got a visitor planned for the weekend.

And first BBQ of the year.

Woooot !!

Grizz1963 04-25-2018 11:32 AM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

More randomness coming up.

We all love a BBQ/Braai..... don’t we?

Last weekend I had a Friend from South Africa who now lives and works in the U.K. (he was born here) down for Saturday and Sunday, with some meat cooking thrown inbetween.

Known James a few years, he and his wife Gail, gave my brother Deon and I place to stay, in fact let us use their home as a base when we did a long distance motorbike tour around South Africa a few years ago for my 50’th birthday.

LINK: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/inde...topic=106063.0

Anyway, he is not a vegetarian, so Saturday morning I went to my Turkish butchers, they still touch the meat.......

Had some thick T-Bone steaks cut....

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjklndav2.jpg

And some lamb chops.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps5snmlquh.jpg

So when James came, we had a cuppa tea, chat and catch up.

Then went shopping for salads and other stuff, followed by a trip to Rochester high street for touristy action and some fresh chips but no fish.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pspkrvnqlr.jpg

The home of Dickens’ England.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pstjc0qxp2.jpg

Back home, brandy, beer, wine etc, plus a fire topped with some coal from Germany, thanks to the Germans.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbzy4dcgc.jpg

Steaks on early

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshejrw5fp.jpg

James helping, cutting the edges to prevent furling or curling.

He felt the heat of a real fire, none of this gas BBQ nonsense.....

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvma6lvof.jpg

All ready, including spicy lamb kofte kebabs shaped like sausage

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pseduhnuix.jpg

And on the plate.

Amazing how great food tastes when you have good friends and company about.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pskp1f1fqb.jpg

Eventually after much more drink and talk we went to sleep, and had a lazy Sunday morning, heading to James’ first Bootfair

He took this lovely contrasting pic from his bedroom, looking over the trees.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps30ifalkv.jpg

Remember my slightly ill-fated road trip in 2017 ??

When the Challenger had a meltdown in its wiring.......

After a load of cash to get me roadworthy again, so I could get back to St Louis for Dennis’ party, it has taken till now to get the parts to replace the fried parts.

Say goodbye to a significant wedge of cash, and DIY to contain costs.

Weekend almost over.....

Yes, long weekend in England, we had today off.

On Saturday morning, Friend Craig came over on his bike, despite a logistical glitch, he was here by 08.20

Coffee, chat, a bottle of Richelieu 10 year old brandy and we were headed for the garage, I had been cutting wood since 07.30
Craig was here to help pack and cut up more pallets.

Impressive packing.

I also made a couple of steps for old man Dukey, he is not managing to jump up any more.

Once we had done all the wood, cleaned up etc, we took the bikes and rode over to Kevin’s place in Maidstone, then a guided tour via backroads to Dungeoness which was a perfect way to keep Craig away from home while his wife prepared for his surprise birthday party.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psryq7bqpg.jpg

They also keep an awesome steam train there.

We had coffee, I opted for a disappointing Belgian chock chip cookie.

On the way back, Kevin and I followed Craig as far as Tonbridge Wells, then turned for home, while he headed home to his surprise birthday party.
At Maidstone I left Kevin and ran the last 20 miles home.

After 140 miles, I was home again, in time to sit out back in the garden with Steve, the current contractor lodger and have a few drinks.

He was enjoying the Vit C and Vit D.

Result.... plus a bit more.

So far, the weekend was awesome.

And it was only Saturday

This weekend was my best weekend since being in America last year.

Dennis finished up the dash rebuild on his red truck over the weekend.

Another lovely tool.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmodoe8sq.jpg

Sunday I picked up a lady for Bootfair and ultimately the rest of the day.
Certainly beat being alone.

Two Bootfairs, minimal gain.

Pic was 50p
Star for next replica 30’s gas pump £1.00
Small axe for Craig £2.00
Gloves for his kid £1.00
Other random stuff mostly 50p

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps3m8wncg3.jpg

Coffee, grand tour back home then a long walk up to the farm.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszxoukut4.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvu86iqtt.jpg

Up at the village pond, the ducks had 10 babies. Duckling yes you pedants.
Let’s see how long that lasts.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssgbukwso.jpg

Later I did a great BBQ as well and then returned the visitor home.... safely.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psztjehpez.jpg

Monday, being a bank holiday there was another Bootfair.

Perfect.

Craig had asked me to keep,an eye out for some industrial strength castors....

Guess what.....

£6.00

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psztrq42hk.jpg

Doorknobs £1.00
Unicorn bubble bath 50p
License plate £1.00
Wales badge £1.00
Over door hooks 20p each
Snackwich toaster £2.00

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psiucwrvqr.jpg

In the afternoon I took the bike out and rode over to Craig’s to deliver his stuff, and also to do some of the planning for our USA Road trip later this year.

Made is 250miles on the bike over the weekend.

Yes, Ioved it all.

More randomness.

Had an offer for some free roof sheeting from an industrial site..

Most of you know how my head works.

Free for collection by prior arrangement etc.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshbthvacb.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pskjeywuco.jpg

Any of you remember this pipe dream?

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pselijytmg.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pswkdhhm2y.jpg

Of course it would mean finding, buying the support structures and putting it all up.

Would also mean a lot of covered space for more “Stuff”

So am I being an idiot, or is this a go for it kind of job....??

In other news, I bought an air rifle last weekend,

Why?

Because there are a couple of large rats patrolling between the properties and I see them cross the lawn to or from the neighbours.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psifjnlcfx.jpg

Also cut the hedges over the weekend when rain allowed me to.

Have discovered that I have some Wrens nesting at the back by the garage.

That makes is three pairs of birds nesting on my property.

Bush pigeons, Blackbirds and the Wrens.

Plus of course the Fox who comes to look for food every night, pisssing the cats off no end.

Later.

Nice score on the roofing tin. I am working toward a shed for my farm and have the opportunity to get the coversheets from all the pallets of metal paneling being put on a building at work. Talking with the contractor, we have found that the building supplier sent sheeting to cover two openings that get an overhead door. both of those are 20' tall and 20' wide. I get all of those sheets too!

I say, if you need to covered space, go for it!

How much of your property can be buildings? If you have No restrictions I say Go For IT!

Just need to do some thinking.

Sent you a PM, think I covered it.

I know there is a ratio, but being a non fixed structure, one can get away with it a bit.

Well, one will be associated with killing vermin.

Hint: It’s not furry.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbuajp1wh.jpg

Absolutely lovely piece of kit.

To go with the little air rifle I bought last week.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psblbcg8qj.jpg

Some great weather this week.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxquuzgcy.jpg

St Thomas Hospital gardens offered these.....

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psw43rz5gn.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psv1ev3vsz.jpg

And the London view toward Waterloo station.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszaugccin.jpg

In a different hospital I managed to play with this tool.

Used for cavity inspections for Fire Marshalls.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps91kschll.jpg

A pic that came up on FB this week.

First house I designed about 25 years ago and built in Simons Town, Cape Town.

Still a lovely place.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psccavkh1k.jpg

Another bonus this week.....

Got to see the Wrens nest and eggs.

I also realised that the Blue Tits have moved into a nesting box I put up this year.

This means I actually have 5 species of birds nesting on my property which pleases me immensely.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psemcfa3r2.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pswgpm7bs9.jpg

Let’s hope a few manage to be fledged.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Had a great BBQ with friends last night, only two Bud Lights, and to sleep at 11.30.

By 03.00 Insomnia my friend came knocking......

Made a cuppa tea and back to bed, joined by a noisy bed bug.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslkcmyzzo.jpg

That was the end of my night.

By 6.30 it was off to Bootfair and I found a few small random items.

My winner of the day was this hardwood sign for my garden.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psq4gojzb6.jpg

At 2 pm I had a lunch and dog walking date at Upnor.

On the Medway river.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6qf8i51l.jpg

A good lunch and a drink at The Pier pub and restaurant followed by a McFlurry.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslkwzln6s.jpg

And so ended my weekend.

More training and stress this coming week.

Later guys.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Cats are strange creatures.

They will take on and kill stuff their own size, yet if you put down a piece of meat or ham bigger than a 5p or 10c piece they walk away as it’s too big.

Likewise, my two have a water fountain with running water to drink from, it gets cleaned completely every week, including the pump.

But let it rain even just a little bit, and both are out there like feral cats gathering the rainwater like they are in a desert.

Ginger Whinger Saturday morning early. Happy.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrxq2rzft.jpg

I went out early to get some meat etc as there was a big BBQ in the afternoon.

I also came home via Chatham Dockside on my motorbike and parked it where the bicycle parking hoops are near an entrance.

When I came back 10 minutes later there was a Parking Charge attached to the tank.........

For £100.00 and if O paid soon, within 14 days it would be £60.00

Heavy handed in my opinion, and as there are no demarcated motorcycle parking spaces, I had parked where I did, not obstructing anything or anyone.
On leaving I had it pointed out to me that there are bike parking places with no clear indication outside the car park.

I will NEVER go back to this shopping centre and with all the businesses there sh!t luck like many already have had.

And if I can influence even one other to boicot them, then it’s good in my book.

This sort of parking management deserves only unpleasantness as does the company that employs the enforcers.

I may be wrong but I really am not happy.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7ej4vddw.png

In other news, the little vermin hunter air rifle I had bought off Oblertone had been brought back to Essex by “Chad” and then collected by Dave “Revvin’ Steven” and brought over by him and his mate Trevor on their bikes, must have looked impressive with a rifle slun over your shoulder riding a bike down the motorway.

Dave is a bit of a dead eye keen shot and knows his way around fire arms.

So I printed off targets for him.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjn6xhpjt.jpg

Got the kettle going, while he fitted and set up the scope......

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrvtnj5in.jpg

Nothing like a cuppa, some biccies and shooting stuff.

Happy boy Dave.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslk5qu75x.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psqtnwcilu.jpg

About 23 meters.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pscdnw1jah.jpg

Set up to deadly deadly accuracy.

Right........

Now for a bit of useless information

Dave was in a the Navy as a young man and used to along with his mates, ride their bikes like hell.

Who of you know what the Black section in the middle of the pedestrian crossing lollypop sign is for??

Where Dave is pointing.

Well, believe it or not.......

It is a small chalk board.

For writing the registration number of cars or bikes that endanger kids using the crossing’s lives.

Dave and a mate got called up on orders in th navy after a night of spirited riding, it seems they had their bike license numbers written on one and submitted in evidence........

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps5xtqlip6.jpg

After Dave left I had a coffee and sat and pulled off a few shots at the target, the breeze flipped it over after a few shots and I then shot two more shots at the post that it had stood against.

This is at 25 meters, measured out.

You have to look in the distance near the garage under the tree.......

It’s a fair distance.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszxnezbcp.jpg

Impressed for sure.

Thanks Dave.

Rats......

Beware

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps78wuq7dq.jpg

Headed out to Craig’s for a coffee and natter and to discuss our upcoming American Road Trip.

Later.
