well its alive! I drove it sunday after moving a bunch of trucks to get it out. me and the nephews (jake and dave ) took it for a spin around the block, the front end needs to be aligned, set and a little clutch adjustment. It runs good!! I tuned it up, plugs and points, condensor, oil change, coolant and a new carb. It's no speed demon and I even took off road a bit, now back to kevins(grunions) for the cage and a bit more fab stuff, and a little quickie paint at mikes i have something cool in mind

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
cool!
is it too intricate to do a sticker out of? |
Re: something different 66 long travel truck
depends on how patient you are. It's physically possible, but it'd take a lot of patience, especially with the grill. I just finished the GMC version as well.. see my other thread for pics

That is so awesome !!! I love the way this truck sets, all the clearance of a 4X4, without all the weight and extra drivetrain hardware to maintain !!! There has got to be somebody who has some of these suspension parts for 1960-91 Chevy/GMC for sale, either new or used ???

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Dino, do you have the 6" fabtech lift and also 4" lift spindles? where did you get the lift spindles from? and did the fabtech kit just completely bolt up to the frame without any mods?
thank you for any help |
Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Hey dino I'm doing the same thing to a 70 chevy only just with the spindle lift. The 4" lift on a 70 actually ends up being a 5" because the 70 spindles are 1" lower that 88-98 chevy. I am also using the fiberglass fenders which were a pain to install(nothing is lining up and it's making me loose interest in the whole project). I was planning on running 35's but after seeing the 37's on yours maybee I'll go that route. Mine is a long bed as well. How does yours ride? And what was the bump steer issue you were talking about and did just making those heimed tie rods solve the problem?
|
Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Smashedfoot - What lifted spindles are you using for the lift?
do you have any pictures with the spindles installed? I would imagine he would still have bumpsteer issues due to the angles of the tie rods. |
