Finally got the engine back together with the new camshaft kit from CompCams. Nothing wild, just a replacement for the worn out one that left me stranded last month.

^installed new cam kit SHE'S ALIVE!!! https://youtu.be/26ZDzVYPUbw After realizing i put the dizzy in backwards again, did the same thing for the first engine start up, she fired right up. We ran her through the COMPCams break-in procedure with only one hiccup. I hadn't fully tightened the distributor after spinning it around and it walked the timing way back to where it was backfiring real bad. I tighten it back down in the right spot and ran her 25 min between 2000-3000rpm, varying ever few minutes. |

Ooh! I want me one of those! Did I mention, I am female :) Seriously, I have not seen such a thing. Is it a factory Kleenex box? My mother has this obsession with always having tissues available, that would be just the ticket. Where did you get it?

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
This is a quick search on eBay, where I found mind. if you have a Chevy, they have them with the proper badges, but nothing technical correct for GMC, so I found a generic one with no badging. The make a few styles, you need to look for a "swing out" type, they make a pull out type but it would mount to the underside of our dashes.

I got my wood from Mar-K and it's Pecan. It takes forever though, staining it with the spar... thinning down the first few coats and then putting pull strength coats on, each side. It's been taking at least 12 hours for each coat to dry (the thinned coats are drying faster, of course). |
Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I replaced the rockers on my pickup. They turned out good, but I'm glad I don't have to do that again!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
Replaced the master cylinder after 2 years of pumping brakes.
Flushed and bleed them 2 days ago with fresh BF and then replaced MC this morning. Stops awesome now! |
Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electronic one....because I thought I needed a new fuel pump. Turns out, I was just out of gas. Didnt realize how much gas would evaporate from not driving it for 2 months.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV
I replace my wiper blaids with a set of 12" Champion blades. I hade to buy a hole assembly and take it apart to use only the rubber. I hade to do a little cutting to make them slide in but they look like they will work well.
I also used a d-ring to lock my column shirt linkage in park (as a society measure). With the hood locked you can't take the truck out of park. I am also trying to figure out a way to lock my steering column inside the engine compartment. Posted via Mobile Device |

I was told to drill a hole in the shaft than put a bar in it.When you turn it it will hit the inter fender.
