well Ive been working on my firewall today. I did the porterbuilt shave kit. Fit was good. I decided to cut off the lip of the firewall top. I will weld that seam then fill in the other holes that I wont be using.
I ran my tracking numbers and the UPS guy will hate me on monday. 5 heavy boxes from Scotts hot rods and some hinges from Porterbuilt all will be here on Monday. I cant wait.
See you later!!

Oh and I am trying to name this project so if you have any ideas post them up.

Juan:haha:

some update pics. I cut off the top firewall rail today. Man that lip went through some blades... no joke. I did find a little rust on the driver side, cut it out and will patch it up tomorrow. The full top cut is now tacked in place thanks to a few hundred small tack welds. It felt like it would never end. Tack on the right side, go to the left side, one tack... back to the other side. repeat about 200 times lol. next fix the rust and grind grind grind those welds smooth.

I should be getting a TON of boxes tomorrow so im a happy man.
Later guys

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

nice work...so what you did was basically "cap" the gutter....? never seen anyone do it that way, looks good

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

Kevin... I'm pretty sure he cut the wire gutter down, it just looks like a cap near the area of rust he cut out. But we can blame the confusion of the dusty camera lense.

That mod is awesome. Really cleans-up the fire wall. I'm not gonna tackle that until I have to pull the motor. Good job. Gonna look great!

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

lol..ya thats what i mean. its basically the same as welding sheetmetal over the gutter to cap it, but instead he cut that extra lip off at the base..which makes it look capped. i hope im making sense lol

well I got a TON of boxes yesterday from Scotts Hot Rods. I unpacked it all and was super stoked to get started... but I could not. I had to go back to work. No work, no play.... so off to work I went. By the time I got into the garage to check it all out and play it was 11:30pm. From start to full assembly it took me 3 hours 24 min hub to hub. I could not believe it. It all lined up perfect. The only modifications you have to do it open up the top mounting holes on the frame about 1/8 inch for the mounting bolts. The shock tower needs 4 holes drilled into the frame to mount it... and thats it. I will tear it all down tomorrow clean it up and paint it all. Then I will put it all back together and get this truck off the jack stands and lay her out. :metal:
Pics will be posted guys.
Thanks
Juan

Thanks man. I've always wanted to go all out on the front of this truck. Took a little bit of saving and some patience. I know I made the right choice of kits. Now to finish up the firewall and start plumbing this bad boy up. Oh and wiring.... I hate doing wiring but I have to do it. Lol
