Slowly gathering parts for my 383 stroker and building it. Have short block assembled and waiting on new valve springs, oil pump, intake, carb, valve covers, fuel pump, water pump and much more.

I'm down to just little fixits, and trying to upgrade and improve the looks under the hood. Really miss the action of restoring the old truck when I first got it! Man, I remember the thrill when I first got the lights to work!! This weeks project wasn't much, but replaced the heaterhose (actually a bypass from the waterpump to the block) as its not hooked up to the heater. This is So Calif, don't need no stinkin heater Ha! The ugly old red hose ran up and over the right side of the intake manifold and looked like shat. Ran a new black hose down along the frame and kinda outa site.

Bolts for starter motor arrived along with exhaust parts. I need to modify my exhaust to go round the brake booster, i could of got 4 45° bends or buy this kit. I'm gonna cut the flanges off then weld these in, it means half the amount of welding & i haven't got to mess around with angles ;)

Over the last couple of weekends I've been swapping the original springs for a set (F+R) of Posies Superslide 3" drop springs.
Then I decided I did'nt like the Chrome wheel/white band tire combo I had, so now using a set of old 7x15 day van wheels painted black with 235/75x15s all round.
Looks better - but I gotta get me some power steering !

What is that hose for coming from the front passenger side of the intake manifold??

I think you must mean the pcv hose that comes up from the pcv valve in the valley cover at the right front of the engine and goes into the base of the carb?

Huh, I don't think I've ever seen one coming from the intake like that. Did you drill out the intake to accommodate your PCV setup?

It is a Pontiac engine...

Not the best picture.... If you look closely you can make out the pcv valve with the black hose attached to it and secured with a zip tie. This is a 400 Pontiac engine and unlike the Chevy V8s, has a separate sheet metal cover over the lifter valley. The hole is in this cover.

Wow, cool. The Chevy valve covers threw me off. What size is it?

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Its 400 cu in., came out of a '69 Firebird. has some kind of hi lift cam and a Edelbrock carb on a Holly manifold and dual exhaust with glass pacs. Around 325hp? This engine was in the truck when I bought it, it runs strong, but I suspect it has been around a long time.... So I just cruise, hardly ever get into the secondarys! The red color kinda makes it look like a Chevy at first glance

Man, different is coooool. Everyone's dropping 350's, LS and BBC into these trucks. Nice to see something different. What is the motor mounts look like? Does it mount up like a SBC, or does it have a different system?? Thanks

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

The guys that installed the Poncho in my pickup did a good job. The engine has mounts on the sides of the block and they fabbed a C channel cross member for them. Then another crossmember at the tailshaft of the Muncie trans. The stock crossmember and front mounts are still there for the original 265 V8, so it could be switched back if someday someone wanted to return the truck to original. Its kinda cool to have the Pontiac engine, not something you see everyday....

Got my cab off to a friends house to have the floor boards replaced and he talked me into replacing the firewall also even though it just needs holes filled going smooth.
trying to talk me into going all out with body and paint instead of leaving the body the way it looks.

Found out my AC compressor came with an odd ball head piece that I cannot find fittings for (1" x 14). Will need to swap it out for a K type head that will take standard #8 and #18 fittings.
