Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Merry Christmas all.
I have been slowly continuing some fabrication, repairs and mocking up some things. At ride height, I have 1/4 degree camber with no shims so Nate is making me a set of upper a-arms 3/8" shorter. I got the Porterbuilt panhard setup installed and final welded. I have repaired one of the messes made on a set of step side type? rear back up lights that was installed and they drilled about six holes in each side when mounting so I cut out the areas with holes and welded in a patch. One side still left to do. I have included a photo from the rear of the bed to see how high the bed frame is raised. I got the rear sill 2x3 final welded and have put a few supports in from the sills up to the new bed frame. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...gin/002-13.jpg |
Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
If I owned your truck I think I would try to autocross it. with the suspension set up you have you can probably get it handling really well.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
I can't stop reading this thread one of my favorites think I will have to build one with this coil over set up and an LS motor!

:agree: x2
Really organized and clean. Like the 62 Impala SS too. |
Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Nice work. Very nice.
I like the coil over suspension.. I am going to need to figure out how to apply that to my build. I think Nate at Porterbuilt should give me a job since I live 5 minutes from his shop. :5150: |

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Thanks for all the comments.
I have received some of the parts for my rear swaybar and when the rest come in that is the next project. The right side is kind of a busy area to hook it up to where the coilover, frame, and panhard bar all take up the same space. I have a plan, I just need to have more parts in hand to see if it will all work. I am going with an 1-1/4" hollow bar with splined ends and aluminum arms with heim joints. I did get the left side back up light hole welded up but that is about all. |

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Starting mockup of the rear sway bar. I have ordered the splined bar and can mount the bushing brackets then.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Hang in there. The truck looks great and glad to hear you got the correct springs. Hope that storm is easy on you all. Heck, even in So. Cal. it's difficult to get motivated to work on my project in the winter. Add kids sports practices and progress slows tremendously. The overall journey is a blast and seeing project like this truck keeps us all motivated. Looking forward to the updates!

The 18-24" of snow that was predicted was incorrect. As of 8:00 am this morning we had 29" and still snowing.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10
Rear suspension is now complete. The bolt on brackets will be welded and I will remove the top bolt and sleeves so as not to interfere with the bump stop installed on the underside of the notch. I will also need to weld up the 2 piece Porterbuilt rear end tube mounts when the pinion angle is final. I ended up with 15.5" long arms on the rear bar and it's 37.5 inches wide .095" diameter for a rating of ~175 lbs. @ 5 degrees of twist. I will probably drill some more holes in the arms just to make them look cooler when I tear the truck chassis back down for paint. I used the greaseable bushings. There does look like 10 pounds of **** in a 5 pound bag back here, but everything appears to have adequate clearance and should be fine.
