Radiator top mounts.. I think the brackets are off a mid 80's chevy pickup. The local pickup salvage yard owner gave them to me.. Not quite done. Need some more clean up.. I will have to modify the front core panel things to go around them..

Modified the steering column bracket and added about 2 inches to it in order to push the column down far enough to clear the brake booster.
I also cut a hole in firewall behind the front passenger tire. Modifying the inner fender wheels to accommodate the wiring harness and fuse block will be needed. I also plan to make a cover under the inner fender and around the wiring to protect it. Not that I plan on driving in the rain and mud but better to plan and be safe then not and be sorry.. |
Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Grounded the cab, frame and core support today. Welded in 2 grounds on either side of the interior of the cab. I ran all the wiring and hooked up a battery and the computer.
Turned it over and it tried to start. Had to make a quick frame ground for the rear harness and then the fuel pump started working. Started right up.. Purred like a kitten....... I had a goal to hear it run by March 1st.. Check.. Now for inner fenders and finish up mocking up the front end so i can tear it apart again and paint the cab... |
Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Good to come in on a goal ahead of time!!
Congrats, cannot wait to see how you tackle the rest of this symbiosis build !! |

I havent gotten my "good" inner fenders so I can start manipulating them to fit the frame... I hope to get those this weekend, they are currently attached to a pickup in the middle of a thorn patch about a mile off any road... |

But I have a BBW kit coming so that has to be worked in there before the next goal. For those scratching your head (like me)... sym·bi·o·sis (smb-ss, -b-) n. pl. sym·bi·o·ses (-sz) 1. Biology A close, prolonged association between two or more different organisms of different species that may, but does not necessarily, benefit each member. 2. A relationship of mutual benefit or dependence. |

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
I go the oil cooler and trans cooler remounted and plumbed in. Made a shifter linkage and installed it. Works well.. Actually, started it and moved it a few inches forward and backward.. Worked on a cab corner and decided that they are both going to need to be totally replaced. Pulled the bed back off and am starting to look for a place to put the battery. Didn't get a chance to go pickup up my inner fenders (complete 65 truck) and it looks like a lot of needed rain later in the week so that may be put on hold for a couple of weeks.. I am just dreading it..

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Sweet it worked.. Does anyone know where I can get a seat cover for my 5 gallon bucket seat?? Oh and yes my throttle is a broken cable that is located just outside the window....
the first time I started it the remote power steering reservoir was upside down the first time I started it. Now it is noisy.. Maybe some Lucas will clear it up.... |

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Congrats man that is so great to see! Keep it up and keep the updates coming. It is neat to see it moving under its own power and the "bucket" seat is priceless as well as the throttle! :)

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Thanks guys, it is pretty exciting to get it to move.. I just want to drive it around the neighborhood and see how fast the cops come...

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Congrats on your first drive. No matter how short - that first drive sure gets you motivated to keep going. I can't believe how much you're getting accomplished in such a short time. Great work!!!!!!!!

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
That video is awesome! Made me chuckle seeing the bucket and throttle, but it doesn't matter, you had it running and moving on it's own. You are moving right along on this and I hope the weather works with you a lot so you can get her finished quickly. Looking forward to seeing the final product.

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Thanks Bears and Shortbox... Waiting for inner fenders then I can put it together and hope it fits together...

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)
Installed the throttle cable and set the bed in place.. Took off the inner fenders from another donor truck and started to mock them up to fit the frame and bigger radiator.
Then I did a little "grass slinging" in the back yard. I almost fell off my bucket!!!:metal: |
