This is a really cool build!. I love the dash, both shape and paint. I like how the seats are working out also. The short bed-looks a lot better than a long-bed on a crew cab in my opinion. Keep up the good work and post lots of pics.

Thanks....means alot.

Haven't made much progress the last week or so. But did get the rear glass into it, windshield is scheduled to be put in on Monday night. So that will seal up the cab finally. Just have to get the cab lights wired and in...then she will have to go outside for a bit I'm afraid. Have other work waiting to be done (K5 Blazer aka: Gangreen, and crew cab 4x4 aka: Raising Cain). Need to get them done as well so that I can get a daily driver up and going in case my 98 SAS project sells. Can't keep em all......but I'm tryin!

Glass is all in, new seals (what a P.I.T.A.). Take some advice and use existing gaskets if they are in good condition. New ones are a royal pain to get glass into. We fought and fuoght with the back window, and the front. Would never use new ones again if I had the choice.

What a creative idea. That dash is killer. The old looking paint is cool touch. You build some cool stuff. Thanks for sharing pics.

Pinstriping on the dash is awesome.

Great job on the truck, keep at it.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

cool build for sure, and the custom dash and paint is def different, and awesome, was wondering how you went about getting rid of the shifter nub on the column, my truck was a 3 on the tree and now its a 4 on the floor, and want rid of that nub, and dont want to have to get a new column for the same reason you did yours, any info for that would be great thanks

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Thanks guys........been busy with family stuff as of late and no real progress to make note of. Hope to get back at one of the projects here very soon.

As for the column, all I did was cut and grind off the nub, then put some 2 part epoxy putty that layed inside the hole slightly, let it cure, then hit it with another shot to level it off plus a bit higher than the housing, then let that cure, sand down level, hit with a very light coat of bondo, sand, prime, paint. Done.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Well, if the weather holds out for another day I'm planning on getting out to the boneyard to find me some much needed parts to finish off the thoughts running around in my head. The voices are telling me that I need the following:

Front and rear 59' Impala bumpers (coincidentally goes with the dash)
55' Bel Air steering wheel (later to be replaced with a smaller reproduction version)
early to mid 50's GMC or Chevrolet tailgate for just the center section to graft into the OBS gate.

Or at least that is the plan.......

What do you guys think? GMC or CHEVROLET insignia on the gate? Going with the GMC grill I believe (or at least that is what I bought...hahaha), but could easily remove the badging I guess.

I vote for the GMC gate. Has more flair.

chevy gate, no question about it!

mrhino 07-29-2012 07:45 AM

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

oh snap! that 59 is "smokin" I think in this case the Chevrolet gate would prolly work best but which ever you chose it should match the grill.

Devillusion 07-29-2012 12:01 PM

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Thinking of trying to find some sort of chevy emblem to work where the GMC is in the grill but keep the open mouth GMC grill as I like them the best between the two.

mrhino 07-29-2012 03:36 PM

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

i agree with you on the GMC grills in most years I perfer the GMC open concept. I think if you added a black outline (or any other color) to the GMC gate it would make it pop and look sharp.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Not much progress to update at this point. Got the hood on, and have a plan for the front bumper, and tracked down a nice 58' Impala steering wheel, 51' CHEVROLET tailgate for the insert, and a few other goodies.

Actually kicked it out of the shop for a bit, needed a change of pace....so I'm going to tie into the K5 project again for a bit. (see below) Not hoping to take too long of a break, but sometimes it needs to happen.

Yea I know what you mean we had a Crazy hot summer and just needed a break from the old girl. A couple of car shows and cooler temps I'm ready to dig back in before the Snow flys. I see it is starting to cool down pretty good up north. Like they say "Keep on Truckin"!

Unfortunatley she is sitting under around 8" of snow as we speak. Started to get some progress done on the 4x4 version as I wanted to get some stuff swapped onto it before some stuff got buried over the winter. Want to get her sealed up with glass and doors on and some color before she gets tossed outside again.

It is kind of nice having a few projects on the go at once as I can flip back and forth for a change of pace. But is taking forever to complete them all...hahaha.
