Thanks everyone for the responses. It's only temporary Joe. My wife says it all has to go in the garage. So now I have to find a place for them.

Installed two inch lowering blocks on my 62 this week. When I removed the u bolts they were almost rusted thru. I guess I stopped a big problem in my future. My plans later on is to do drop spindles and springs when I do the brake upgrade. So for now 2 in the rear and torsion bar adjustment in the front. It came out good.

62Barnfind I just read through your build and a lot of your hard work has paid off, I like the Blue and also the white. Those wheels you chose really sets the truck off, Something about white wheels guess it gives it a cleaner look, my Hats off to ya, You done a good job and your truck shows it.....

Thanks! It took a while for me to get the right combo for the truck. I didn't like the black wheels with the blue and white bumpers. So I went with the wider smoothies in flat white that changed the whole appearance of the truck. Now I am trying to decide if I want to go back to the original Brigade blue. Thanks again!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.

Saturday I wen to a great car show in Lampasas Texas. The turn out was great for the old cars and trucks. While driving there I noticed the truck loosing power because 60 mph was hard to keep. After the show I was driving home and I couldn't keep 45 mph and the temp was rising in the engine, then all of a sudden something let go and the knocking started. All the valves are moving, nothing sticking out the side, no water in the oil and water is in the radiator. So I had to stop ad get trailered home. So now I have to go into the engine and see whats going on in there. Hopefully it is something easy and I don't have to replace the whole engine! If I do I guess a V8 swap will be next.

I hate to say but from what I can read I think a bearing slipped. Funny how the temp started rising though.....its as if it had a seizure and broke loose. Hope the problem is a simple one though. Would like to see the 6 cylinder in there. :chevy:

I agree with you about the bearing. I take it to the machine shop today to find out. I'm hoping that it can be fixed cause I really want to keep the six.

Yesterday I got the tired six out and ready for the machine shop. Still need to get the trans and bell housing off. I'm really hoping that it can be fixed so I can keep it. Today I'll find out what happened on the inside. So wish me luck! i have also been looking at other options for replacing the engine. Today will decide if the six is staying or a V8 is coming.

Those old straight six engines are pretty tough. I'd bet its fixable.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.

I finally got the word back on my 235. It spun a #3 rod bearing and no other damage in the engine. You can see in the pic of the head where the piston was hitting the head. So TJ another L6 saved! I took the crank to Waco to get turned and the local machine shop is doing the rest. The plan is to bore 30 over and put in hydraulic lifters, new performance cam and duel barrel carbs. So the ordering has started so when I get it back I will have everything to put it back together.

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.

The machine shop is still working on my 235. Just found out yesterday that the crank was bad and had to replace it. Lucky for me they had one and only cost me $150 the same as if they turned mine. I also I did some detailing of my accessories and I bought some performance toys for my engine. I'm hoping to get some horse power from the upgrades! Next step is to get the engine bay re painted and get all the parts for the engine in. It has been a bad time for the truck being down with all the shows and get togethers in the summer. I guess Ill be ready for next year!

Parts are looking good John. Love that intake and carbs you have there!

Re: 1962 chevy c10 update.

I'm still waiting on my engine to get back and no luck. It has been over 30 days and all the parts are still not here for the rebuild. So I have more detail on my accessories. I painted all my pulls and brackets and I restored my oil canister. I have two brake lines that are ran in the wrong place so I guess Ill redo those also. I guess the engine bay will be so nice since I have all this time.

Thanks! I did a lot of reading before I came to this set up. I called Tom Langdon stove bolt to finally decide what to do. I just can't wait to get my motor back and get it together.

I have to go back and check. The machinist found a possible 2nd bad rod. He told me if it is bad he will take care of it. I hope to get it back this afternoon or tomorrow morning. It has been a long wait.
