Re: 1965 LWB Stepside Build
I'm a fan of that green. I agree that it will look great under the white cowl

OK, finally had a little time to work on the steering wheel. I finished the few patches I missed the first time this week...got them sanded, and got primer and paint on the wheel today. I decided to go with the green for the wheel and steering column bits. Pretty easy to paint with it on the steering shaft...I just rotated the rod and painted.
Here is the wheel...still need to clear coat it, but It is going to look good against the silver of the interior. Will get some better pics after I clear it. |

Got silver on the inside of the cab today...dash, roof, and back of cab. Painting silver over gray primer is difficult...they blended too well! Still need to do the floor under the seat. I also need to do the doors...and this will also be the color of the wheels. The color is from 1965 Corvette...Silver Pearl Metallic Code #WA3314. |

Thanks John!
Got the SW and column parts cleared today. I think/hope the green is going to be a nice contrast to the silver. I think I might either do the door panels in green or do the outline of the door panels in the green too. And a picture of the silver roof... |

Got the firewall clear coated finally! A little bit of trash to get out and polish and a little orange peel, but not sure how much I care. I will have to look after it cures in the next 24 hours.
Next step is starting the wiring harness! |

Got the sound deadening ordered...should be here Thursday. I will lay that down then go back to the wiring. I have read the instructions a billion times...OK at least 3 times. Got the fuses in the panel...should get a lot done this coming weekend. Going to mount the trans on the engine in the next 2 weekends...so it is about to start moving fast.

My wife made me this to hang in the shop...We always joke around about being a "youtube certified mechanic." Now I have the certificate to prove it.

Today I started bolting up the transmission. Put the new flywheel on, clutch kit, along with the bellhousing. I was missing 2 bolts for the hydraulic throwout bearing to attach to the transmission. Will pick those up and finish getting the transmission mated to the engine.
I also cut most of the pallet away from the engine so that cleaned up a lot of space in the garage also..which I was stoked about. I covered the engine back up with a tarp, but was nice to see her again! Won't be long now until it all gets mounted in the truck. Probably going to change out my valve covers soon too...to something better looking. |
