Went with a small block for now... The big block was just too much money this time around.. I did manage to pick up a big block to rebuild but thats for future.. all efforts are on a small block stroker motor for the time being.

Funny, I was stoked to see that you were in my home state as well. I read half your thread yesterday and when I started reading it today I thought I must be going nuts since your location now says Hollister, CA, haha. You must have just changed that. Thanks for documenting your changes in the build thread. I've enjoyed seeing the truck go from being rescued to being a clean runner. Now it's going to be a strong runner. And that interior is spectacular. Many people go for so much contrast that it starts to get kind of chopped up. Yours is clean to the point of elegance. I know those are big words, but I'm not given to overstating things. It really is very nicely appointed.

LT7A I appologize for the location mix up but you are spot on I just realized that my location was incorrect and changed it to our new location. I really loved the Pacific Northwest in June July and August... LOL. Thanks for the kind words regarding our truck. It's kinda funny that when we started to get into the build we were really convinced that these trucks need to speak for themselves as a timeless beauty. The interior should reflect the era from which they came from and not be over done with too many modern amenities. A comfy seat and some clean paint is all one really needs to capture the essence of the time in which these trucks were driven around on a daily basis. If you read my build I sort of stuck to what my truck looked like in High School. Although that truck was no where near as clean as this one it still has those same old reminders that we are cruising in a 1960's vehicle. I have been lazy and have not updated this thread much due to the move and now in the middle of a complete home remodel/ makeover. The 383 has been in the truck for almost a year and runs strong. looking forward to getting a garage/shop setup to be able to do a 700r4 transmission swap next. Have a great summer in the PNW.

Im back. After getting back to work and remodeling a house completely, losing my father going through Covid and the crazy twists and turns of life I am getting back to ol'skool. The 383 we stabbed in the truck with a TH350 is not working out the way the wife wanted. After a few trips in it we decided that we wanted a robust power plant with an automatic transmission that can handle freeway driving and towing!!!!! Ill get to the towing part later. Most important is a reliable power plant that is not to crazy in power yet can be fun to drive and get some decent mileage. We picked up an LQ9 with a 4L80E. So the swap begins. I have been doing a little research here and there and have decided that their has got to be at least 100 different directions to go. As always I am open to suggestions, such as motor mounts. transmission crossmember, oil pans, wiring harness, radiators, and all the incidentals. I know this sounds crazy but why doesnt anyone make a full kit for these trucks? Oh well on to doing some research.

Your build looks great! I'm in the middle of my 1966 C10 build as well and it's my first project. I saw your first post saying yours didn't come with a throttle or shift linkage. I am looking to get a universal throttle cable but I'm not sure what size to get. Seems the 36" & 48" cables are the most common. Would you by chance know what length to get?

Hey Scott, I've been following your build for a bit and as a longbed owner I always say " with a longbed you get the whole truck not just a cut down version." Your build has been closely related to mine. I have a favor to ask. I love your photos and I wonder if you happen to have a photo of the front of the frame that shows the cross sill mounts to verify for me where they are located because I have a vendor I've been dealing with that insists that this is not correct. I want to send him several pics of 64-66 bed mount positions which I know are correct to let him know he is wrong.
