skymangs I think it looks killer just the way it is! well, maybe some headlights... thanks to you also. headlights are overrated lol jk well I have done a little bit of pant work just to get rid of that awful red, and taken it back to the factory green with distressing to make it match the driver side. Kinda stuck on what to do to it at the moment. The frame thats underneath it is pretty hacked, so i bought another truck that is basically trashed on the outside but I could swap the frame on. Other option is just scratch build a frame with a mustang II front and bagged. Im still up in the air on having it bagged because of past bad experiences, but I have a friend that I trust to do it right and he does good quality work. So who knows at this point |

Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59
I know what you mean too, time is really hard to come by and when I have a moment it is looking at someone elses project that I am taking on to finish or do another step of the build, some of my own projects have sat for a year to 5 years ubtouched while I would just make money on other builds and buy parts for mine when I can get to it. that is why after owning over 120 hotrods of all types in my life (52 years old now) that I am finally just gettin tired and keeping this one and "if" I ever get the urge will buy another project like you and get to it when I can. That why they are called projects right.:D

Nice looking trucks fellas.
Bootlegger - I really like your color combo. Very slick interior. Vince- I like the engine. Did you modify the valve covers or did you buy them that way. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59
Bootlegger...very tastefully done. I like the Gaylord's lid, and the whole interior is killer. What is your steering wheel out of? It goes perfectly with the truck.

Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59
Thanks to everyone for the complements, The forum members and their trucks have been inspirational and educational in the build.
youngrodder. Thank you. Your color combo is is excellent also. I was trying to get the early 60's two tone look. HZRDPAY , The steering wheel is a 59-60 Chevrolet Impala 15 inch replica that came from Southern Rods. It required a bit of extra work to get it to work and fit. lowdownstar , The wheels are American Racing Torq Thrust II , 15/6 frt and 17/8 rear the rear have a 3 3/4 back space. The knock offs are from Rons Rims got them off E-bay $205. for all 4 with shipping , Quality of the knock-offs are out standing. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=18081 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=18079 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/p...ictureid=18080 |

Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59
Someone mentioned the ability to bag an original frame?
Where would one find more info about doing it to a 47-53 frame? |
Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59
keithcorcoran the info is definitely on this forum, just got to know what to look for. By what I've gathered here there are basically 2 main ways to drop your ride. One is bagged one is not. For not bagging and the cheaper route look up dropped front axle . the rear can be done by using lowering blocks to keep the original stuff. look up sids dropped axles and they have a write up on how to do it this way.If you want to go the bagged route you will have to go with an IFS (independant front suspension) of some sort. either a front clip or a weld in upgrade. and for the rear you would have to go c-notch and 4-link. here are some keywords to help- IFS original frame bagged original frame 1950 panel
|
Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59
thanks for the info.
i almost feel like if you're going to do ans IFS up front and nothc the frame you might as well try to find a bagged s10 and do the frame swap. that's probably because i don't know too much about it but if you're going to go that far with it.. might as well. i DID see the drop axle writeup on sid's site.. that doesn't look too bad. not quite as easy as hacking off a couple of turns on a coil spring but not too terrible. thanks for the info.. i'll start doing some research. |
