Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
I am trying to get pictures to load, we are having internet problems since the storm the other night.
But me and Monroe had a very eventful day yesterday. We went yesterday morning after touring through the C10 farm and looked at a trailer. Monroe and I looked it over well and decided this was a great deal so we purchased it and then headed to Northern tool. We bought new wiring and lights for the trailer and headed back to the house to begin our work on the trailer. Although it was extremely warm and humid we managed to get all the old wiring out and pulled the old lights. Hopefully today we can finish getting the lights fixed up and begin loading parts for our journey to Carlisle. :chevy: |

Monroe, got that cross member in today out of that 67 you are eyeballing in the above pic. It is perfect. Has a little bit of my finger on it but that's just part of the fun. Looks like your having a blast.

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Saturday Monroe and I went and bought a new to me trailer. He really enjoyed his adventure into Kernersville and most of all roaming through Northern tool.

He also likes to finish what he started so he said he would like to prime and paint the parts he blasted, Monroe is a very talented fella ;)
http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8yrbfhtb.jpg I did loose him a time or two though, I heard a rustle in the feedbag, yep you guessed it Monroe was in the chicken food  http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/...psgjxuyrjg.jpg http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ntrqedn.jpg |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Nothing better than after a hard day of work on the C10 than a game of pool, Monroe is just a natural :metal:
http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/...pseguyduur.jpg So after an adventurous day we went in the house to relax and watch some velocity. I believe the C10 farm wore Monroe out. :chevy: http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/...pswtapyt92.jpg |

Motley is putting it nicely! What a time! It was great meeting you, Larry, as well as your fine feathered friend Monroe.
I had some busy days prior to the show right up through the first half of Thursday, which got me there late. I was so anxious to meet Monroe, but did take a moment to check my load and get a shot of the trucks once Olblue60 and I got out on the road: Attachment 1559433 Attachment 1559441 Here is a picture showing the act of shared custody in Monroe's interstate adventure, with Liftmeup looking on: Attachment 1559427 |

Time to hit the sack came quick, since I got there so late. I never gave a thought to how Monroe would feel about the sleeping quarters. I'm fine with roughing it at these swap meets and when the time came, I was concerned he might have been expecting a motel room. I figure a bed's a bed. I guess he was fine with it because it took a lot of effort to get him out of "the bed" the next morning:
Attachment 1559461 Once up, and with some breakfast in his gizzards he volunteered to man (chicken??) the hubcap table: Attachment 1559477 He's quite the huckster. I told him about the early birds being the ones most serious about getting their worm. The first couple guys were a tough sell and just kept on truckin'. But the very next guy stopped and listened (carrying something). The next ting I knew my first sale was made: Attachment 1559478 |

9am sharp the National Anthem is played and he kicked right in with facing the flag and putting his hand on his heart. He even paused his tunes. Such a fine young man he is:
Attachment 1559482 It took no time for lunch time to roll around and Monroe asked if he could take the trike to see if any vendors were selling cracked corn. Attachment 1559483 |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Any chance you have a video of him riding the tricycle? His legs seem a little short haha.

It's drive by wire (hidden). You just crank the Red Baron up and she rolls right along. And, as we all know, no brakes on a tricycle. It's a true combination of raw primitive and highly advanced technology. I'm no engineer or scientist, so I can't explain it any further than that... sorry for my ignorance.
Monroe had a great time meeting all the members, as well as the people there in general. A very social bird he is. He took a while to come back after lunch and, by the number of people stopping by on his suggestion, he made friends with a lot of people in a little time. He said he really liked how it ran and late in the day he scooted out on the Red Baron and was gone a while. Well, I wish someone had warned me he had a bit of the skater bad boy in him (I should have figured by the droopy drawers). A couple hours later, here comes Monroe on the Red Baron zinging down the row. Security frowns on that and I don't want such unruly behavior associated with my vending operation. I've spend 10 years building my reputation as one of the most upstanding respectable clean livin' vendors of the show. I was even told by Tim Demarc that next year, if all went well, I was slated to receive the good guy vendor badge I would have worn proudly. Well, so much for that. With Monroe approaching fast, a gust of wind kicks up, a hubcap blows into the isle, Liftmeup goes to grab it up just as Monroe almost smacks into it. The hubcap was saved, but can't say as much about Monroe. He swerved at the last moment, and you know how trikes handle. He flopped it over, he went over the bars and face planted onto the asphalt. The Red Baron has a lot of damage and Monroe bought himself a case of road rash. I hope he learned a good lesson. Someone caught the incident just as it occurred. Oh, the drama!! |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
Oh no !! I didn't realize he was drinking and driving, just goes to show you the two don't mix

His beak took the brunt of the fall and got shallow scratches, and a little scun up on the comb dome. We had a good long talk and I think between the trauma of it all and me carefully words of guidance, he'll be back to being the fine yung man I thought he was. I was very upset to see he had been drinking beer. I went over to the vendor buddy who gave it to him and gave him a proper reaming! He's lucky I didn't have him charged with giving alcohol to a minor.
I got him in the truck and all patched up. And, just to be safe, insisted he stick around the spots and only went about when with me. I don't take my responsibilities lightly and I apologize for allowing this to happen. Here he is after getting patched up and another one once home. As you can see, the wounds were fairly superficial and had already started to clear up. I've got to get back to work, so I'll have to get back to more of our time together later. Y'all come back now, ya hear? |
Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!
I think he likes swap meets too.
