Well, i got the long bed s10 for my next project today. Got a 49 but it had a hacked up "sub-frame". Gonna start this new build in a few weeks!

Good read. Saw this truck in person and met Joseph. Great guy and lots of knowledge to offer. Keep it up man. I am staying tuned in to the next few.

Did you go with a 2 pc or 1 pc driveshaft with your 4l60E?

Good question. I've always wondered what you LS swap S10 chassis guys are doing for a drive shaft.

I used the stock long bed drive shaft it's a two piece. I had to shorten it about 7 inches tho. Thanks for the comments guys, just hope my posts help someone building thier own.

I noticed, when i took this second s10 apart it has a one piece driveshaft. I thought the long beds were all 2 piece. Guess not! This drive shaft is aluminum, gotta get it shortened too.

I like the grille not having the turn signals, its a subtle change that makes a big difference.

Did you ever clear the patina on your truck?

Layedoutsonoma91 04-28-2016 03:21 PM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Got my harness rewired for 3 wire operation and emissions removed.

With shaving the firewall, did you fabricate the sheet metal or was it premanufactured?

I just traced the firewall out on some poster board, then transferred it over to sheetmetal.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Great build im trying to follow ur footsteps but i have two questions if you still remember. What bushings did you use and what wheels are you running? Those wheels really caught my eye.

HULK64 01-26-2017 08:58 AM

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Jarias- those are Mobsteel wheels.

Layedout- a couple more questions as I make progress, if you don't mind.

Since you used drop spindles, did you need notchless tie rod ends as well? Or were you OK with the stock steering pieces with the drop spindles?

What did you do to get the Raptor liner to lay so flat? I watched a few videos and it got to looking rather chunky- one of the things I liked about your project was how smooth the liner looked.
Is the raptor liner any good at deflecting heat?

Thanks~!

Sorry for the slow reply man. I have been really busy.i did not have to notch the frame for tierods with the drop spindles. The raptor liner i just sprayed a bunch of thin coats and stayed pretty close. If you get back a little further it makes more texture. And the raptor liner was good for hear, but I also used fatmat inside the cab to help with sound n heat.
