I spent some time (a lot of time actually) re-drawing this in Adobe Illustrator so everything would be easier to read. There are a couple minor edits based on what I have found in my two trucks.

Send me a PM with your email address if you would like me to send it to you.

I don't see the three wires to the trany. I see the one green and one black to the reverse switch. My 70 GMC has three wires, dark green and light green to the switch and the black wire I just assume is a ground. But you know what they say about assuming. Thanks for the diagram it helps a ton!

I have a 1972 GMC suburban, and the wiring is driving me crazy. The diagrams I found on here look similar to what I see under the hood but not exactly. Also, I don't see the blue wire that is supposed to be to the oil pressure on my harness but my guage cluster does have a oil pressure guage. The engine harness actually only has 5 wires. I unplugged it and looked at the female plug on the firewall and it also only has 5 inserts. The five wires I have are the tan, dark green, purple, pink, and brown with white. Can someone chime in?

My 70 GMC has a mechanical oil pressure gauge that is plumbed in the block next to the distributor. And the 70 gmc has 4 headlights up front.

Maybe that's how mine is too. There is a metal line that looks like it would go next to the distributor.

Just a heads up I'd anyone else had the same issue. I did ground the black wire to the fire wall and when I fired up my truck this weekend the backup lights work awesome.

Just scanned the pages looking for a wiring diagram for the 1959 GMC.
Does anyone have? I might even make a Chevy one work too...

Does anybody have a diagram for a 57 apache? I bought a new harness with updated fuse box kit. Ive got the basics hooked up. The motor runs again. I can figure it out but a reference would make it easier.
Thanks guys

Did a high-res version ever get posted anywhere? Also, can I assume the diagram is the same regardless of the engine?

A BIG thank you to all who posted diagrams and offered advice. I have just been through all 13 pages, downloaded and printed a heap of information all of which is worth its weight in gold. I am still neck deep on gloom over this EZ kit but it will come good soon.

Helping my brother work on a friends Blazer, this diagram was very helpful!

One question though, what does the black and black/white fused wires go to? I see they terminate at the firewall junction, but doesnt look like they go anywhere on the cab side.

Thanks!
Nick

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

An electrical circuit consists of 3 main wiring components that is live(also known as phase or main), neutral and earth(ground). To distinguish between them different countries use different color code for identification.
In India 3 colors i.e. Red, Blue and Yellow are used for 3 phase live supply, Black is used for neutral and Green or Green with yellow stripes wire is used for earthing(ground) .

Here's a Wikipedia link for electrical wiring. You can go through details and can learn different color codes for wiring in various countries.

In the cab those wires go to the cluster connector if you have a gauge cluster. They connect to the ammeter.
