Thanks for the compliments. I traded some pallet racking we had in the warehouse to a tire dealer friend for them. I had them mounted up and balanced here in Louisville. The tires came from Frankfort, it was cheaper to have it done here then drive out there, lol... I was wanting to have balancing sand put in but nobody here local has a clue. I guess when I get it done I'll drive it to our tire friend and let them pull all the wieght off, about 7oz per tire and put in the sand. I'd hate to throw a wt. against my eventually nice paint:lol:.

BTW, nice progress and workmanship. Lots of builds going on around here....

Big trucks have been using this type of stuff for years. Its not actually sand.
Here ya go. If the link doesn't work do a google search for Nu Mag balancing compound.

Well its been kinda hectic in the shop so I haven't been able to do much to the blazer. I did take out my poly mounts and cut some 4x4 to use as bodymounts while I blast the bottom side. All I gotta do is find some long enough bolts and mount them up. I did manage to make a template for the gas filler cover. A stock one isn't wide enough by 1" or so. I did get to do some trading yesterday and picked up a nice MAC tool box!!! Now I get to try and memorize where I put all my tools:lol:

Nope, you'll never believe it. A riding mower.... I had it on CL forsale and I got an email offering me the box. I drove up to his house Yesterday and we swapped. He had 2 boxes and was downsizing. He had moved up through the ranks and is now a Service Manager... So ya know what that means. No time for playing with the tools, lol... He did have sweet new Monte SS. 5.3V8, front wheel drive too. Real nice dude. I was wondering at first if everything would be on the up and up. It was.:chevy:

I got to work on it for a few minutes tonight. Got the top off and some other little stuff. Cleaned up my area some. Got a real good deal on a box of grinding wheels. 25 for ten bucks.... Southern Tool Supply in Louisville. I don't do much heavy metal work but I couldn't pass them up....

I remembered I had a nice thin sheet of stainless so I cut the filler cover out of that. I still need to bend it up but it looks good so far. Got my body lift finished to, hope yall like it:lol:. I hope it holds up, at least while I sandblast the bottom.

Big J 04-29-2008 03:39 AM

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

Well I bent up the stainless and it didn't work to well. It broke. I reckon its too hard for a sharp bend like that. Oh well it still looks kinda cool. I'm going to have to come up with something else. Maybe I'll cut up one of my old hoods. I hate having to buy materials when I've got all kinds of stuff laying around. Got the body mounts in too....

Yeah, some smart person suggested that last week. Should've went that route:lol: Would have saved me from wasting the stainless. I just figured it'd be one less thing to rust later:lol:

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...

Like the body lift...

I was going to use pipe, either PVC of metal w/cut up all thread to hold things in place for your same reasoning...cause I have it laying around.

Great progress, keep the push on.

I was going to use some square stock I have laying around. But I'd get booted out of the garage for wasting metal..... Just wait till ya see how I sand blast the bottom. Its going to involve either a tractor, chain and boom or a tractor with a loader and a chain.....:uhmk:

Its in the plan, toss some block around the back tires, lift it, brace it, then blast it....., then if time allows, epoxy it... Can't wait to see it a solid color.....

Tonights fun... Cut a bad spot out of the top passenger side bed rail. Took the trim off the inner bed rail. Bolted down the 4x4's. Took me forever to find enough long bolts. I'm not about to buy any that length..... Too much money.... I had a piece of allthead. I hated to cut that too:lol:. I've gotten cheap, its the gas prices. 3.75 per gallon in Louisville today. I figured out that wasn't stainless I used for the fuel fill cover. It's some kind of aluminum. Oh well.... Well its been awhile so heres a bunch of pics... Including a better one of that sweet tool box.....:metal: Man I love that box...... The drawers slide so nice. No draggin' like the craftsman.
